Otherwise, yes, the 13% is fucking outrageous, the issue is all the alternatives are mirroring ebay's moves with just 1% less kek. But they don't propose nearly as much choice, buyers' guarantees and support.

The "common sense" advice of advisors will always be to pull capital back into their clutches unaware that the ponzi-economy is saturated with debt and unsustainable. Boomers were fortunate to live during the massive credit expansion and their wealth and housing just effortlessly increased in value many times over. Some of them unironically think this can happen again and if you just buy an index fund it will 4x in price by the time you are ready to retire or whatever the fuck.
Despite the fact that the U.S. is saturated with credit and the GDP has no grown since 1983 if you subtract out increases in debt.

The economy is a ponzi and keeping as much demand tucked away in the financial system is key to keeping its true nature concealed. People see their paper gains and feel special, and it helps keep plebs on the hamster wheel.
It's the same reason medical insurance will bankrupt you. No one wants you to retire early so they basically force you to work until you are 65 to get Medicare. They also want you to defer spending until you are 65 by keeping it protected from lawsuits. They keep you in banks by making you lawful ownership of cash limited to $10,000.
It's so obvious when you start connecting the dots that the elite want you working and handing over you money and generating taxes for the ponzi.

You of all people should know that we do not practice capitalism in the west because it has be subverted with central banks and intricate welfare and grant systems. What has happened is that the iron law of oligarchy is for all of us to see because we now have the tools to bypass the oligarchical controlled media. Corporations control the politicians who write the laws used by lawyers and judges bought by the very same corporations. The problem stems from the fact that if left unchecked, new laws accumulate over time favoring a small group of people with wealth influence. The difference between capitalism and communism is about who has rights over the other, the individual or the collective, and I know I will choose individual rights because collective rights is just another name for slavery.

my best digital scale is a useless kitchen scale which varied between 30g to 32g on this coin. will need to get a proper scale as well.

Yeah it is definitely handy to have a scale, can get something like the accuweight digital scale for around $17 on amazon. Different coins will ring differently, silver eagles sound completely different than a britannia. Specific gravity test is the most fool proof way to test precious metals at home without having a very expensive piece of scanning equipment. The short of it is that you weigh the bullion in question and write down the weight. Then you put a container of water on your scale ( cut a plastic bottle or use a paper cup) tare the scale so it reads 0. Use a piece of floss to suspend the item in the water without touching the bottom or sides and write down the weight. Divide the weight of the item by the number you got while it was suspended in the water and that will give you the specific gravity. Specific gravity of .999 fine silver is 10.49. All these measurements will be done in grams. This video will cover it in more detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw-2kqjtEdI

A fascinating question, but difficult to answer because there's less consistent info on the time period outlined jn that image. There's a lot more working information on cost of living from the time of Diocletian thanks to Dioclatian's Edicts on Maximum Prices, with the caveat that that information also doesn't paint the whole picture because it was the Emperor's suggestions on price caps during a time of hyperinflation, meaning everything is skewed as is (and the Edicts were mostly ignored anyway).

That said, this is a fun and informative video on cost of living from around Diocletian's time:

https://youtu.be/nXx2vBRDym4?si=40pWyGo12qq030

Seems like I'm good.
So, since this is also (prospective) homeowner general, I gotta reee a bit.
>a productive member of society
So, turns out I now got a job at the other end of the my little country and I'd really like to move there with the wife and kids, but damn, is it expensive! Of course my "old" place isn't exactly cheap, but looking at house prices, there's a bunch of stuff on the market that I could buy in the sub 300k€ range.
But the new place?
Fucking hell. Nothing below half a million, so that would mean buying on credit, which means paying debts forever.
Or, I could get something suspciciously cheap, which turns out to be situated in the "red zone" (i.e. the "Why the fuck would anyone sane built that close to a torrent that will fuck shit up when it rains? Why the fuck is that even legal?"-zone)…
Though that problem also applies at my cheaper place.
Additionally, there's the issue of contaminated land. Wasn't there some discussion a few threads back about some anon owning a bunch of worthless silver mines?
Well, I could kinda become that anon too! There's a few nice towns in the old silver mining districts in the mountains and I could buy a house on some old mine site!
But, turns out silver never comes "clean" in nature. More like lead-zinc-silver ores and even if I were a lead stacker, I definitely wouldn't want that shit in the soil in my vegetable garden.
tl;dr:
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
and pic kinda related.

If it's a one off thing they are almost certainly going to make it right. No lcs is going to want the word to spread they are selling fakes. Trust is what thier business is built on. If you come by more than once claiming you got fakes from them they are likely to tell you to go kick rocks since the odds of getting fakes on multiple purchases is so low, especially since I'm assuming they would run a full inventory check after the first time you came back with a fake.

Nobody can tell you what the short-term price movement of gold will be. Most people here will tell you what the central banks apparently believe, that prices will go up in the long term. Given that, the answer to the question "is now a good time to buy?" is always yes. The only danger for you is buying to much such that you are forced to sell in the near term to cover other expenses. Don't do that. Only buy as much as you can afford to hold for a few years at least.

Kek, nice. That's why i said "unless" because jews claiming they want to save the economy doesn't weight much when you look at the decisions they took recently and tells us the EXACT opposite.
But i don't think they even need to continue to raise rates, things are already imploding at 5.5%. They simply need to keep it like this for half a year to have the desired effect. It would be less obvious that if they raise it up another 2% or so.
What do you think will give up first frens? Between commercial RE, private mortgages, CC debts, students loans, maturing low yield bonds held by banks, etc... i've a hard time figuring out where the fireworks will begin.

I don't have any, because there is no timeline i can work with. I've no certain idea about how much more resilient the system can be. I can't tell if we have just 2 weeks left or another 2 years, so i simply slurp as much as i possibly can at any given time.
All i know is with my very limited means i can't hope to double my 2000oz stack anytime soon. But if i can manage to slurp another 500oz before SHTF then i'll have zero regrets and would consider my goal achieved. But i'd need probably another year and half for that..

3 types of silver to invest in without being a skeezer

1. 1oz or 2oz silver rounds or coins. (Potentially bars if you can get them cheaper than rounds)
2. 5oz-100oz silver bars. Any bigger and you run into issues selling.
3. 90% Junk silver US coins. The best option for getting good divisibility without paying crazy premiums. Any lower than 90% (eg. 35% war nickels or 40% halves) and you run into issues selling for a good price. Foreign coins have largely the same issue as it’s more difficult to find people who know what they are. Collectible coins are great if you’re interested in them but I recommend you avoid if you’re just trying to get silver.

think of berkshire, amazon, tesla, etc. they don't pay dividends. all gains would come from price appreciation. since this is the only place gains would be coming from, assuming you'd be holding for a year, you'd only ever pay long term cap gains rates when selling shares if held in a taxable account. if held in a 401k, you're paying your marginal tax rate on it, which will most likely be just as high if not higher. i'm not saying not to participate in one, it just doesn't really seem like that good of a deal. think of all the extra flexibility you give up having it sheltered in an account you can't really tough until retirement or a few specific instances. at least with a roth you can pull out contributions penalty free.

the fair price for silver is about 20$/oz. silver was trading around 15$/oz before the massive inflation that came from covid stimulus - real world inflation is about 30-40%. i took 33% for easy math, so the price of materials should be about +33% higher than what it was before covid to compensate for inflation

so if silver was 15$, then 33% of 15 = 5$. so the new fair price of silver is ~20$/oz. 15$ + inflation (5$) = 20$. if you wait until silver drops to 18$, you will be getting a 10% discount to the fair price. silver is a slurp at 18$

Platinum for catalytic converters is a dead industry, there's no denying that. However, we are projected to run out of gold in the next couple of decades. When that happens, platinum will be one of the precious metals along side it. I personally think it will take silver's place as silver will be used primarily as a base metal for green energy technology.

Fiat/usury is bad, but I think it's the other stuff that's going to push normies over the edge. What the WEF, UN, banksters, technocrats, etc. are pushing is a slavery system where the plebs have no property, no privacy, and no rights whatsoever beyond whatever temporary freedoms those at the top allow them.
This is REAL SLAVERY. It's not a "wagey cagey" kinda slavery where you have to do the daily grind to make ends meet, but otherwise have freedom to do whatever, save/invest money and own property which gets later on inherited by your next of kin. This is more like a wacko looney tunes communist dystopia that nobody wants and where everyone will be miserable. It can't possibly work because it's completely anti-human. Of course that's the whole point, I guess. Since the ones pushing this have a transhumanist agenda. They're completely out of their fucking minds.

24k jewelry is based. Once you've handled high karat jewelry 10k and 14k look like copper in comparison.

The big 24k company in Asia is chao tai fook... i like in asia they are big into 24k hollow form gold sculptures. i find that kind of stuff more interesting than simple coins and bars.

I want a heavy 24k chain, 100g+ bracelet, and some heavy 100g+ hollow form 24k animals desu.

does it even make any sense to buy copper? unless im being retarded the premium must be insanely high on copper. 1kg of copper is about 7.50€, and a 5kg bar costs about 135€, 100€ more than it should be costing.

>> No.56290690

There's a difference between owning a chunk of metal that has no added value of interest, and one that has been worked into something aesthetically pleasing and stamped with a mark of provenance, and/or something totally naturally occurring like a raw chunk directly from the ground.
True, industrial Cu is cheap. So is cotton. Clothing costs a lot more.
Is it a good investment? It's hard to believe it would be. Here's my reality: I bought a bunch back in 2012 or so, when it was $7.50/lb avdp. They're "art" bars, stamped, and have the classic designs. This shit's going for $20/lb minimum on ebay now. Minus the 15% fee ($3.60) and say $5 shipping that means $13.4/lb, if I sold now.
The silver I was buying at the time was about $24/ozt. I might get $33/ozt on ebay (to keep the playing field level - so have to exclude coin shops, which won't take Cu) -15% ($5.05) -$5 = 23.95. Huh, a 5-cent loss.
So that copper shit's worth about 2x what I paid. The silver I bought is about break-even.
The real problem with Cu is, you need shitloads of it to make any decent profit.

>There's a difference between owning a chunk of metal that has no added value of interest, and one that has been worked into something aesthetically pleasing and stamped with a mark of provenance, and/or something totally naturally occurring like a raw chunk directly from the ground.
aka premium, i know. but the premium on a copper bar seems a little excessive.
and yeah, like you said, youd need quite a bit for it to make any sense.
i have a slow but reliable source for scrap copper from various kinds of wires. would probably still take a lot of time and effort to amass anything note worthy, and then id be taking up a huge risk getting caught stealing old network cables from my employer.
maybe ill buy a couple 1kg bars just for the fun of it. 6 to be exact to stack a little pyramid.
