So, since this is also (prospective) homeowner general, I gotta reee a bit.

So, turns out I now got a job at the other end of the my little country and I'd really like to move there with the wife and kids, but damn, is it expensive! Of course my "old" place isn't exactly cheap, but looking at house prices, there's a bunch of stuff on the market that I could buy in the sub 300k€ range.
But the new place?
Fucking hell. Nothing below half a million, so that would mean buying on credit, which means paying debts forever.
Or, I could get something suspciciously cheap, which turns out to be situated in the "red zone" (i.e. the "Why the fuck would anyone sane built that close to a torrent that will fuck shit up when it rains? Why the fuck is that even legal?"-zone)…
Though that problem also applies at my cheaper place.
Additionally, there's the issue of contaminated land. Wasn't there some discussion a few threads back about some anon owning a bunch of worthless silver mines?
Well, I could kinda become that anon too! There's a few nice towns in the old silver mining districts in the mountains and I could buy a house on some old mine site!
But, turns out silver never comes "clean" in nature. More like lead-zinc-silver ores and even if I were a lead stacker, I definitely wouldn't want that shit in the soil in my vegetable garden.

More generally it’s adolescent males. They need to have some purpose to work toward, and if society takes all potentials away (marriage, religion, national pride, etc), their purpose becomes destroying society so that it can be replaced with something that does give them purpose. Any society that does not keep its young men contented (or worse, actively antagonizes them) will collapse, there are zero exceptions. We’re almost at that point.
