firstly, the original b-tier studio that made s1 was fired for approximately no reason, and replaced with even lower tier studio of interns. This, and the drama surrounding it, is also reflected in how certain parts of s2 that reference or call back to s1 are handled, that is to say poorly.

In s1, main character starts off thinking she's weak, spends half the series going to the Library where she can figure out who she is, and the second half the series learning that she's actually smart and stronger than she thought, and by the end did everything she thought she can't do, and is leaving the island for more adventures and more discovery of the mystery she found out while figuring out who she is. In s2, the MC's hero's journey (if you can even call it that) ends by episode three or so when he learns he's a human visitor, so most of the season after that is just going from place to place just so plot can conveniently happen, except it doesn't even happen since most of the "overarching plot" is squeezed into the final three episodes because the intern-ran studio has no director, no direction, and relies on "problem of the week" tier storytelling to carry them through.

The manga fixes all those points, but the only translation i can find is sadly still unfinished. And i haven't looked for raws because i don't know japanese. Overall it's a shame it's been handled so poorly but it's been a long enough time that i'm not actively angry over it, just passively resentful.

Just found out the manga Hell's Tormentor Kraken. Found a picture of the muscular rapecat in picrel and it being from an author who has done femdom themes I decided to check it out. Unfortunately it's kinda edgy and she snuffs the mc and then gets killed off when he gets his isekai power-up in the first chapter. I almost dropped it right there but decided to see the rest since it's fairly recent and only has a few chapters. There isn't anything like that initial nastiness so far, so I am willing to give it a chance. I was worried it's gonna turn into full blown revenge gore porn.
However, be warned, it's the same author as Akame ga Kill and with the opening chapter, plus the story being about the mc being a prison guard for an all female prison, it's probably gonna have a fair ammount of edge.
The prisoners so far are an oni girl, an arsonist dark elf, a mass murderer elf and a human princess (falsely accused of patricide, maybe the others will be given some nuance too). The head prison warden is also a sadistic elf.
There is another manga from him with some femdom stuff but without so much edge (at least as far as I read) and some girls that could qualify as monsters. It is getting an anime this summer IIRC so I am looking forward to that at least.
