I like Yuyuko. She's more intelligent than she is credited for, indeed enough to the point where a lesser being would be crushed by intellectual depression. But she doesn't get by with her smarts. She's wise enough to know the folly of depression and sadness, wise enough to know that life(and unlife) is always something worth enjoying, despite the situation!

What's your favorite touhou and why?

Too bad Yuyuko had to become a joke character thanks to the stupid fandom. I bet 2ch don't make so make food jokes, but just because the do once in a while western fans do it everytime they can when they see Yuyuko posted... sad... people can't actually have a serious talk about the characters every once in a while.

My favorite is Reisen Udongein Inaba. I love her theme and it's probably the only boss (level 4+) I can beat on Lunatic without dieing. I like her way of thinking and how she looks over the other people before her own. She works a lot... have to take care of Kaguya, be the Guinea pig and be apprentice of Eirin at the same time, try to don't kill Tewi due to the pranks she pulls on her and control a hord of rabbits. That without counting the cleaning the whole mansion, cooking, etc, etc.

Also I love her powers, they are awesome. Lunacy inducing eyes is not something you see everyday.

An omake is an extra or bonus piece where characters behave out of character. It usually refers to an extra episode, for example, or a short comedy clip at the end of an episode, or a bonus strip in a manga, etc.

It does *not* generally refer to entire works, so no, Inaba of the Earth/Moon is not an omake. Plus, the characters do stay reasonably in character (an omake uses out-of-character-ness as part of the joke), so the point is moot.

>> No.1771701

I admittedly don't really know much about Yuyuko's -actual- story, all I have to reference is Perfect Cherry Blossom itself (which tells you almost nothing) and that 'When they first met' video which I assume is at least partially fanon. Correct me if I'm wrong here:

-Yuyuko is born as a human with the power to kill just about anything with just a thought, and exiles herself to prevent that power from accidentally being used.

-Yukari meets Yuyuko and befriends her, and tries to think of a way to seal off Yuyuko's power so she can live without having to worry about accidentally killing people.

-Yuyuko eventually commits suicide to avoid taking any more lives before Yukari can figure out a way to seal off her power.

-Yuyuko loses all her memories when she dies, but doesn't die fully, because Yukari is forced to bind her spirit to the cherry tree she took her life next to. Yuyuko eventually becomes a high-ranking/powerful member of the underworld because of her unique powers.

-Yukari befriends Yuyuko again, this time as the queen of the dead. Yuyuko gets curious about the sealed spirit in the tree and tries to revive it, setting Perfect Cherry Blossom's events in motion.

So, does Yuyuko still not know that Yukari was her closest friend when she was alive? Or was everything I just listed fanon bullshit?

The point is basically to keep her in the Netherworld so that she never reincarnates and has to go through the experiences she did again. Well, someone did that, anyway, not necessarily Yukari. It is a common assumption that it was Yukari, but it's never explicitly stated, though since ZUN does mention that Yukari knew Yuyuko before her death, it's certainly a reasonable theory.

Lady Yakumo Yukari, the oldest and most powerful amongst youkai in Gensokyo.

She is truly a magnificent noblewoman. She has had her hand in creating the impenetrable barrier that separates their world from the world of the humans, oversaw the immigration of the youkai into Gensokyo at its conception, and weakened reality itself within their realm.

Intelligence? Not only is she capable of immense numerical calculations in the blink of an eye, she can control the very boundaries of the worlds to the point of traveling through unharmed.
Not to mention, of course, her successful attack upon the Lunarian Empire at a certain point in Gensokyo's history, marking her as an impressive military campaigner. Cersei Lannister need look no further if she wished to behold Lord Tywin with teats - Lady Yakumo is more than his rival in strategics, skulduggery, and dominance.

Most definitely dominance. Even her first interview with Aya had her disciplining her submissive to introduce her! It makes me...shiver.

>This implies a series of Pyhrric victories for Yukari, ending in her choosing to withdraw her Youkai armada.

... Nnnnnnooooooooooooooooo....

"It is said that she once invaded the moon by modifying the boundary between truth and lie and plunging into the mirrored moon on the lake's surface.

Although she went in with an army of impudent youkai, they were crushed by the Moon's advanced weaponry. "

This implies they were CRUSHED.

No victory.

So it is said. Who can tell? It may be propaganda spread out by the Lunarians(who have rightfully exercised some control over Gensokyo)to magnify the might and power of their weaponry.

I like Yuyuko because she's hot.

But I still prefer Youmu, because she's awesome.

Well other than the fact that it was the event that BROUGHT YUKARI TO "FAMOUS YOUKAI" STATUS so that it's based in Gensokyo...

I think THAT IT MIGHT'VE BEEN AN INTENTIONAL LOSS LIKE IT KEEPS IMPLYING.

Patchouli is easily my favorite Touhou. So many aspects of her character appeal to me... Her quips are entertaining. She's a powerful magician. Her favorite hobby is reading and, as such, she keeps the largest library in Gensokyo. She receives free room and board for maintaining an almost completely unused library. Plus, I find her design appealing and the idea of an immensely capable magician whose power fluctuates with the pollen count is thoroughly entertaining.

The fact that she wears pajamas and is a NEET also doesn't hurt.

>> No.1772369

>she wears pajamas
Hate to be a grammar nazi, but technically she doesn't. Pajamas specifically refer to two piece sleepwear including pants and a shirt. What Patchy wears is more akin to a dressing gown over a nightgown. Same function though, so the idea's correct.

>and is a NEET
I dunno about that. Being Voile's sole librarian (while certainly not a difficult job) is some form of employment considering the benefits she receives. Unless you interpret that situation as less of an exchange of services between Patchy and Remilia and instead look at it as a gift from Remilia to Patchy. To describe her as a mild to moderate hikikikomori certainly wouldn't be too far off, however.

The concept of employment doen't seem to apply in Gensokyo, where inhabitants without occpuational titles and stay indoors are bound to be the same as NEET in human world. "Vocation" would be a better description for individuals (designed) with unique, specific and vital roles in there.

Anyway, Patchouli-sama.
Prehaps I consider the pursuit and producton of knowledge as a kind of charisma. Her undepleting enthusiasm for wisdom is what I admire and appreciate much. And factors dealing with moe attributes of course.

Reisen's the way to go. She's the voice of reason in a world full of nutcases, has by my count the versatility of four different powersets (her own EMF control, the insanity gaze she gets from being a moon rabbit, Lunarian weaponry, and alchemy Eirin's teaching her) without being overpowered or munchkiny, and has the underdog's charm since the Eientei crowd treats her like shit. Reisen is one of the very few touhoes that are waifu material.
