OP, just tell her Reimu and Marisa are two magical girls (like her!) who fly around solving mysteries and making fwiends. Let her do the rest. Use her...what's that called...imagination?

Kappa, amphibious mythical beasts easily distinguished by their turtle-like shells and fish-like scales, are known as mischievous and often malicious monsters. They are often witnessed carrying out pranks, sometimes childish and sophomoric, such as loudly passing gas or looking up women's dresses, but seemingly cruel and troublesome at times, such as stealing crops or kidnapping children. Kappa are most infamous for assailing people near bodies of water, dragging a victim underwater and extracting his or her "shirokadama", a fleshy ball supposedly found inside the anus.

In truth, while the more forgivable pranks of the kappa are just that, mischievous pranks, they deeply care for humans. Kappa are innately gifted with preternatural medical knowledge, which they use to help humans whenever the opportunity arises. They steal crops infected with deadly viruses and bacteria, and the children that they abduct are returned after a week of intense alchemical treatment to cure them in advance of terminal illnesses that could claim them later in life. The shirikodama that they remove are actually vermiform appendices. The underwater appendix removal surgeries that the kappa perform prevent any complications that could arise from an infected appendix, though the procedure is a bit rough, involving controlled drowning. Word has it that bonesetting was taught to humankind when a human doctor had returned the severed arm of a "little boy" to the boy, who turned out to be a very grateful kappa.

Humans may look down on kappa as evil and capricious monsters, but these creatures only wish for the best for humanity.

There are times I've thought about this myself, though if I did I certainly wouldn't post it on the internet. I don't have confidence in my writing ability, even if with the quality control being so horribly low already.

Sometimes you just want to write the fantasy, though my own ideas were more around the idea of 'So you wake up in Gensokyo' done realistically rather then NITORI IS MAI WAIFU.

It's odd, I sort of want Nitori to be my favourite character (possibly my favourite theme) but Touhou has so many characters I love for me to pick her over others.

I'd say I appreciate Nitori. She's probably the one youkai who would make a really good friend.
