Pretty much. The framework is there, but there just isn't any fire in my belly to put it down on paper. Part of me is telling me that I have to do it, but another part of me is complaining that it feels like a chore.

I've been where you are bro. The start or getting back into the swing of things can feel like a chore, but it's times like that where I remind myself of parts of my story I want to bring to life, even if they are parts I may not be writing right away. Those exciting things help me take that dive and get things rolling again. Above all else though, you should prioritize your fun. When it's fun for you, everything else will follow. I'm planning and writing an outline/setting for that Holos turn into weapons/ recruited into a supernatural agency concept that was discussed here about a week ago. Progress is pretty slow going but I'm at least putting something together.
Honestly at a bit of an impass for how to handle the 'other Holo weapon wielders'. Because the 'easy' solution I'm thinking is to make a half/quarter of them the human wielders of the supernatural weapon holos but that kind of ties up a bunch of them conceptually. While the other way I've thought up is to have them be wielded by the managers which runs straight into the wall of only having a few 'named' managers with the rest theoretically getting filled up by effectively OCs.
Another alternative I've thought up right now is to have them 'wield' each other with all of them being supernaturals that can turn into weapons with (You) being the special exception.
Also if anyone has ideas for holos and their weapons forms I'm open to suggestions. Current idea for all of them is to have them be rwbyesque weapons that can switch between two forms, i.e Mio can turn into a katana or a deck of cards, Gura can turn into her Trident or a gun, etc.

Can it just be a mix of OCs wielding Holo weapons and others that may not be suited to turn into a weapon? Someone like Matsuri comes to mind for that role, as well as Marine and Noel would be cool weapon wielders.
I would also consider limiting who can turn into multiple types of weapons. Make it more of a show of skill or experience rather than the default rule. That will also allow you to write in good development segments where a specific holo reaches a new potential.
I'd give Mio a different weapon instead of a katana, since you already got a few holos that would either turn into one, or wield one.

I don't think turning all of them into transforming weapons is the call. You could have the weapons have unique properties that change how they're used instead i.e. Koyori could be a flamethrower/gun hybrid that shoots chemicals as either a stream or bullet like burst, Bae could be a dice that the user can roll to see what actual weapon they get depending on their luck which fits her chaos theme, etc

I think I've improved a lot since then, and I've even rewritten the first three chapters to try and make them read better. In terms of recaps, the landing page has a spoiler free description of each arc. I'm not sure if that is exactly what you're looking for, but it's at least an option for now. Another chapter, another load of shit for the gang to deal with.

The kitchen scene felt a little out of place and knocked the wind out of me until I realized they probably have been there for a while, I like to think that whoever's controlling the castle was just sitting there wondering what was taking so long before checking out the magic security cameras and realizing the only raiding happening at the moment was towards her pantry. I am expecting a magic midget to be the final boss of this arc.

The fluff was good, love that shit, put it right in my veins.

I think my biggest criticism would be that antagonists would work better if they were already known vtubers from both agencies, I think that way they would perform better because I can definitely hate someone I've seen, rather than new characters like the sprites which I can't really bring myself to dislike, it's why imo HoloX worked well when you brought them into the story. Can't wait for the next chapter though I'm honestly curious to see what you'll do.

Yeah I can see how the kitchen scene came almost a little out of nowhere. It was honestly something I just wanted to write since it would cute, funny, and give the group a little break amidst all the shit they've been dealing with back to back. I do agree that other vtubers would be good antagonists, but when I mostly just need a one and done villain, I'll just make them up so they fit the setting. HoloX is no where near done yet by the way, and expect to see some moves by them in the future.

It had a lot of knock on effects on her own streams during the entirety of the arc which kind of made writing the character 'difficult', especially as the school of thought for chuuba characterization here is to pull more from streams rather than memes/lore.
She doesn't do it anymore, but now she's known more for the 'lore arc' than her current state especially since Haato is streaming less ever since she's gotten into college.

Gotcha that kinda makes sense. I will end up looking more into Haato eventually since I was given a decent idea for a small event involving her. For me personally, I've been going for a mix of characterization from streams with the established lore of the respective chuuba. There are times where their lore overlaps with their personality in spots which is the real good shit, but for some that's much more rare.
