I think that the eggs has to stay in an air tight area because they need to also absorb the blood and DNA of the host mother so that they can have enough genetic information to become little aliens. The eggs will slowly grow inside the person until it is too big to stay inside any more and they must be hatched. Last time I was thinking of frog eggs so the eggs must be laid in a body of water for them to finish growing.
