So did you guys enjoy ghost babel? I really didn't expect a game like that on gameboy and not playing mgs before that I was simply swept away. It looked simply beautiful for a gbc game, controls were suprisingly tight and the music was...well, let's make it a background to this thread.

I really want this game to have a remake. It has more gameplay than the all of the solid saga combined.

What would you want it remade on? I feel as if it would lose its charm being remade on a more advanced platform, save for gameboy advance maybe.

I think it would do good on the 3DS. That or just a plain homebrew engine remake.

I still can't believe how much content was squeezed into the cart. There was the main story itself, challenge missions (implied to be a vr training that raiden took), and god knows how many vr missions, mostly 2d versions of integral vr. fun stuff.

I gotta play through that again.

Is this game canon, actually?

It isn't.

I was about to say that the canon would have gotten weird if it was.
Then I remembered.

anyway, it's set after MG2 I think. MGS doesn't happen, or if you take challenge missions seriously...there is a sliver of connection to MGS2

I'd also add Pyro Bison > Raven

Also wasn't the radar a joke when playing on gbc? It's all right on an emulator when you can blow it up to 5x original size but still

It's nice and clear on my GBA but it has backlit screen.

It's not. And it's a damn shame, because it was a great game, remininscent of the first two Metal Gears (on the MSX, of course. Snake's Revenge sucks)

Ghost Babel is probably the second best Metal Gear game after Solid Snake. It might even be better than Solid Snake, but that's probably pushing it too much.

I haven't played SS yet, but Ghost Babel is my favorite game in the series.

I remember being blown away at every turn that it's even possible to tell a story this good in a freaking GBC game.

I was more into perfect dark for gbc.
It even had a rumblepack

I never played it but to me MG and MG2 seem like they are better (talking the MSX or snake eater versions). I like how ghost babel allows 8 direction shooting though. Videos I have seen have a lot of codec and cutscenes though. Something I don't like about the MGS series.

>> No.1680609

>>1680580
well, it is much more story-driven than the msx ones. It actually resembles MGS1 a lot in that regard, which is not a surprise, seeing as ghost babel is modeled after it.

>> No.1680693

This is the best game for gbc.
It's pretty much the gratest thing ever.

It's weird how snake wears the thermal vest on his sneaking suit in africa. It was designed for ultra low temperatures as far as I remember

If it can keep heat in, it stands to reason it can keep heat out as well. Maybe he wears it inside out.

>> No.1680964

actually, there is such reason. Compare it to greenhouse effect for instance. It may absorb heat easily and keep it inside, in contrast to simply preventing heat transfer.

damn video won't load.

This was one of my favorite Gameboy games. I always remembered that it gave me a big home consoel vibe. It also felt like it was an import or something. The kind of game that shouldnt be outside of Japan because its just so good.

The game is technically cannon. But the plot isn't.
If you complete all the special missions, it is implied Jack (Raiden) is experiencing it as a simulation.

>The music that plays when Snake parachutes into Galuade is the intro theme from the MSX2 version of Metal Gear, while the alert theme is the same one from Metal Gear 2.

I can't find a direct list, but most of the Ghost Babel music is from the two MSX games. Those games have solid (heh) scores.

I want it remade on WiiWare/XBLA/PSN, like Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth. SNES-styled graphics and music, without the limitations of palettes or instrument channels.
