Well there is the QuestionableQuesting forum which is for NSFW quests and stories (needs registering). It still suffers from similar problems as above (though maybe not as much, last time I checked) and it doesn't help that it shares some of the userbase with spacebattles. The "Knight" shitfic and some others are also hosted there. Not everyone there is retarded though. There is some stuff that doesn't seem to be posted anywhere else.
You might find something interesting there but no guarantees. I can't really make any recommendations because I don't read fanfics that much anymore and I kinda gave up on MGE fics outside of the ones that are vetted by this thread

In regards to violence though, controversial take but I really think it can make a story a lot more engaging if done right. Raises the stakes, opens up more paths the writer can go down.
Conflict is the main element of literally any story, so having a conflict that by default has higher stakes can make a story a lot more engaging, and (hopefully) rewarding if done right.

Having said that, violence that's gratuitous or over the top for seemingly no other reason then edge value is just shitty writing. Have a point to it, and don't exaggerate it just for the sake of it.
