Well, Erika's just as volatile as her master in terms of bust size, so it could easily swing one way or the other depending on preferences. I tend to go for her look from the Episode 8 manga, which would put her slightly ahead of Dlanor. But Dlanor's thighs are most likely better than Erika's in my opinion, so that's a point for her. I feel the same way but for me I feel as though I could've figured it out if I had taken some parts more seriously. I don't really blame myself for that however since it's really hard to tell what you're supposed to take seriously and what not.

I think especially in the early episodes it's hard to tell where the boundary is between the story as a mystery, the meta world, and unreliable narrators. I probably could've figured it out if I started rereading from episode 1 after finishing episode 4, but Umineko is so long that you can't really expect someone to do that.

Also, even though to his defence Ryukishi does consistently try to convince the reader that they should really try and figure it out on their own, it doesn't help that he did the same thing in Higurashi, where you really can't figure out the actual underlying plot without being told (plus, the actual plot is really stupid in Higurashi). When I read Umineko I disregarded that encouragement because I thought it'd belike Higurashi again.

Is the meta world really supposed to represent anything? In think its purpose is mostly to serve as a frame for the mystery story, so that we can reason about it *as a story*. A big theme in Umineko is "the nature of mystery stories", but to really think about that, we need to introduce another separation layer between the reader and the story.

The meta world also serves as a convenient way in which characters can be developed in a way that doesn't fit into the mystery story.

When I think about it Umineko really has three layers to it: what actually happened on Rokkenjima, the story of what happened as told by the witch' side (which serves as a frame to the first layer), and the meta world, which serves as a frame to the second layer.

It's also interesting to think about which characters appear in which layers. Some, like Battler, appear in all three. Some, like Gaap and Vergilia appear only in layers 2 and 3. Ange and Auaurora only appear in layer 3*. Kinzo only appears in layer 2. There are no characters that appear in layer 1 and nowhere else, since those would play the role of a "mysterious person X", which isn't allowed.
