What are some of the weirdest scenes that nobody ever brings up? I can remember a few:

George flying like Peter Pan and rescuing Shannon from the land of the dead while a bunch of souls get up from their graves and cheer on him.

Both Mion and Jessica talking about their pubic hair in the very first scene they are introduced to the reader. What's the deal with that anyway?

Ange summoning the stakes in a hotel room. For some reason, during this scene we see a background (in the original unpatched release) that never appears again as far as I can tell. It's a zoo or park of some sort. I think it was the same background they used in Higurashi to portray the park where Satoko's parents died, but I'm not sure. I always find that part really strange.

Is anyone watching Crazyfox's Umineko videos? That guy is the worst goat I've ever seen, holy shit. He SKIPS the text super fast without even reading all of it, let alone understanding it. And he often rants about something stupid for minutes while barely skimming the text, instead of stopping it while he speaks. No wonder he doesn't understand half the shit that's going on in the story.

This is the same guy that spent the entire finale of Minagoroshi groaning, complaining, saying "this shit goes on forever!" and CTRLing through the text because he hated what Takano did to the protagonists and didn't see the point of watching her gas the village. Just... wow.

I mean, I'm glad he's enjoying Umineko. But god damn, he's fucking autistic and not in a good way.

Any and all Agatha Christie. She is pretty fair in following the rules (you can solve it yourself) but also was very clever in her solutions.

No one mentions it, but like Umineko, most of her stories have a poetic over-narrative that helps point you in the right direction if you can understand it. A great example is her Egyptian period mystery "Death Comes as the End" which is probably my favorite of hers so far. If you have good intuition you can sometimes figure out the solution without knowing the specifics just based on that alone.

Sherlock Holmes is a nice start for detective stories. My personal favorite is Raymond Chandler and The Big Sleep, though.

Read And Then There Were None and leave Agatha Christie. She leads you thinking one thing and pulls out a completely different answer out of her ass almost every single novel she has. I guess her writing just exists for the sole purpose of surprising the reader.

Poirot Novels are generally solvable once you get it’s more about psychology and the contemporary culture of the time than “callous on the hands.”

Same way Miss Marple is based around the idea that anyone in a quaint English village who paid enough attention to the gossip could solve a murder.

I suggest watching the movie with Albert Finney.

The engaging part of the movie is seeing Poirot realize what’s up, silently freak out, and have a huge crisis of faith as a result.

Heck, the ending is basically Poirot invoking a catbox - just replace “a witch did it” with “Culprit X”

>> No.17914516

Why can't people just read Umineko without patching the shit out of it? The original release doesn't have any problems. The translation was great too.

This is a NOVEL, not a fucking anime. There is no need to have bland but good looking sprites moving their mouths as they speak. Or cheesy CGs that remind you that you are playing a VN.

You are not supposed to be focusing on the sprites or backgrounds, they are only there to complement the narration with facial expressions and shit. And those are much better in the original art. Some of those expressions are subtle enough that Ryukishi can use them to portray many different emotions, but in the updated art they just look out of place. Especially in Higurashi.

I already explained why the updated backgrounds are shit in another thread. Enjoy your 3D chains, fancy ashtrays and everyone having the exact same phone.

Magic.

As long as the breast size of Erika wasn't confirmed in red, then her breast size remains in the catbox. It isn't beyond possibility that she experienced a sudden increase of breasts between her falling off the boat and her arriving in Rokkenjima. One can postulate the existence of drug X or science X that made her gain as much breast as needed. As such, her breast size is magic - unfixed.

This is the same thing for her dress, by the way. Why does she have such a complicated and absurdly regal dress in her Rokkenjima stay? Why, because it is in the catbox. As long as that particular dress wasn't denied in red, she can have one with fractal-like patterns, and it looks absolutely beautiful.

I long to have that weaponized in the real world, but the only real way I can think is to blind your paramour and then describe to them how you are dressed while slowly drugging them to make them forget the essence of reality. Which is honest I guess.

One very dickish move Battler could have done in ep 6 is denying Rika's dress in red.

Obviously Bern self-inserted by using a careful combination of truth and miracles for Erika. But the dress is likely Erika's alone, and it is 100% higher level fantasy. Battler could have been petty by saying in red that Jessica old rags were nothing like the semi-goth lolita outfit Erika spun from the catbox, but more like a plain blue dress, or something.

And then, like Cinderella, Erika would have instantly reverted into a plain dress. Imagine her face.

There's a phenomenon called the Barnum Effect (also known as the Forer Effect) that explains that we're more likely to give higher accuracy ratings to things like personality tests because we think it's specifically talking about us when it's usually vague details that can apply to a wide range of people.

"You have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself. While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them. You have considerable unused capacity that you have not turned to your advantage. Disciplined and self-controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. At times you are extroverted, easygoing, easy to talk to, and sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, and reserved, wary of revealing too much of yourself to others. Some of your hopes and ambitions tend to be rather unrealistic."

Like so. Nothing wrong with taking it purely for entertainment, though.

Adorable! Thanks, anon.

I wonder how old young Jessica is supposed to be.

I'd put her at about 10-12. And thanks. I'll be sure to post the final version once it's done.

That is cute. I wonder if Jessica wore her hair differently when she was younger.

I could see her with longer hair as a kid. Natsuhi would've wanted her to look more feminine after all.

All right, poster arrived today and I put it in a cheapish frame I bought this weekend to tide me over until I find the perfect frame I want. I just need to set up where I am going to hang it up. Sorry in advance for the reflections.

Also forgot to add the poster was 24x''36'' and cost me $30 leafbucks including shipping.
