You promised you'd help me. How did you help me? You finally said you would join me. I was so happy; I would have a friend, and above all, that friend would be you! You could understand me! I wouldn't be alone! Any pain would be bearable with you. But then, as I held you in my arms...you killed me. You drove your knife into me, and let me die. YOU BETRAYED ME! WHY? WHAT DID I EVER DO? ALL I WANTED WAS YOUR HELP!

Tsukihime tells the story of a girl, circa 1999, who is taken away by time travelers to the late 21st Century. Once there, she marvels at the wonders that the future offers, but is also increasingly amazed to find that she longs for her own time (the past) and the boy she left behind because of her journey forward. Although she has been provided a robot man, who obeys her every command without question, she quickly realizes that this is a poor substitute for her lost love: the robot companion can never love or be loved by her. Her desire to return to the past grows stronger once she is told that she cannot be returned to her own time, and she attempts an escape using her captors' time transporter equipment. Her premature escape is foiled by her captors, and she subsequently discovers that they had been keeping her in their future only to illustrate to her how it suffers from the choices that had been made during her time. The girl is finally returned to her year of origin (1999), armed with the understanding necessary for her to make a positive impact on the future.

Satsuki is nothing like you. She isn't really very cool: she blends into crowds, she hangs out on the fringes at parties, and wearing shades after dark makes her run into things. There's never been anything special about her that she could see; boy, is she in for a surprise. She's come in for her share of hurt, but gotten off with minor damage. And she's gotten no slack from you.

In general, you care deeply about Satsuki, but you're smart enough to let her stand on her own, without burdening her with your personal fantasies or propping her up with idealization and over-dramatization. Satsuki is a healthy character with a promising career ahead of her.

I've been thinking about it for a while, and I don't think I want an Akiha. A Sacchin would be enough.

A Sacchin is all I ask for.
