I have a job that lets me spend hours a day practicing and learning. I use Duolingo and WaniKani, along with just watching VODs and trying to manually translate them for myself. Even so, I have a very long way to go. It's a road we all walk together, Zain.

Not trying to be too negative but since language learning is a long process I want to hopefully save you a lot of time and unnecessary headaches. You've probably heard 1000x that Duolingo is bad but you might not have heard that it's actually counter intuitive because it teaches you to translate in your head (which is the opposite of what you want) and Wanikani is infamously bad with it's time gating and the whole system can lend itself to be a bad crutch because kanji aren't as straightforward as we'd all like them to be. The two alternatives are Anki and JPDB. Anki if you like to customize everything and have everything organized, JPDB if you just want to click a couple buttons and be done with it or if you want to know how much of X show/movie/book you know, also there might be a plugin or something for anki that also allows this that I don't know of but I know for certain you can tell JPDB what level of Wanikani you're at. Also in case you're unaware translating isn't really JP practice, it's practicing translation, so unless you're thinking of getting into translation it's not a particularly good use of your time (Obviously keep doing it if you enjoy it). Sorry to be kinda negative, I've had a couple points where I went "God why didn't anybody tell me this? I could've been so much closer by now if I had just been doing this" so I at least want to let you know, since you have hours a day all that extra time saved adds up really quickly, and that's extra time you can be enjoying even higher quality codependency! (TLDR: Use Anki/JPDB instead of Duolingo and Wanikani which are time sinks that aren't very good, and translating isn't practicing JP, it's practicing translation)

As for practice, the best practice is just watching/reading things you're interested in, I know it might sound like you're "practicing", but putting everything you're learning to use in real world usage where you want to figure out what's going on is infinitely more enjoyable and also significantly more effective than any thing a class or random website can give you. It's best practice to watch/read something with a dictionary to look up words that pop out at you or seem important to understanding what's happening/ being said. Since you've been learning for 6 months you're likely far past the point where classes serve any function past feeling like you have a commitment to it because you paid for it and the sort of sense of community you get from doing the same thing together, speaking from a pure efficiency stand point it's a massive time sink for very little gains, but you'll have to think about whether that's a good place for you based on how well you can keep yourself disciplined on your own and stuff like that. As far as Anki goes, idk what your retention rate is, but if it's not significantly below 80% you're probably just used to things being too easy, where SRS's are trying to find a balance between showing you things enough that you'll remember 80+% of them, but not giving you so many reviews everyday. And vocab is indeed easier to remember in context, but you can also guess the word from context or only remember the word with that specific context, so if you hate vocab cards, you can do sentence cards (preferably taken directly from things you've engaged with), just be aware of the pitfalls that come with using them.

Pretty sure there are other holomembers who would start to talk faster while being exited, like Fubuki, Chama, Peko, Marine. When you don't fully understand language and not really familiar with dictionary on discussed topic you will have to concentrate on what is being said, but I don't see how is it specific to Polka. If listening to Pol zatsu requires concentration, then OhaSuba must take no less, since instead of going from 0 to 100 and back she keeps going at, say, 80 all the time.

I also find Polka's speech to be consistently the most difficult to understand out of all Holos. And speed is only one of the reasons. She can sometimes slur on the same level as Miko and Luna, but unlike them Polka uses more advanced vocab.

Tonight I had the worst dream immaginable.
