I appreciate the anonymity. Sites like Tumblr and Facebook contain the attentionwhoring I hate from anonymous imageboards only compounded. I can understand an artist having a Tumblr to keep people updated with new pieces and work, but let's be real here, as a whole, it's little more than a popularity circlejerk amongst some of the most pretentious assholes I've seen on the internet.

The way it's set up makes conversation and discussion difficult, but then again, that's not what the site seems to be for. It's in the same grain as all other "social networking" sites; it's a place for people to masturbate online and any conversation or discourse that occurs is nothing more than a watered down facade of actual interaction. I don't like sites like Tumblr or Facebook for the same reason I don't like going outside--people become exceedingly fake when there is a name or face attached to their words.
