Besides Houyi himself, Amenhotep II is the only archer I'll be impressed with. There's this scene where he's shown turning a small copper archery target into pincushion from the back of his chariot (with no charioteer to help him, he has tied the reins to his waist and is driving with his pelvis) and he's drawing yet another arrow while his eight-legged horse (well, there are supposed to be two horses, but the artist was lazy and just carved one with double the leg count.) is rearing, because he really hates that copper plate and he couldn't care less how a rearing horse reined to his waist can easily topple the entire chariot. Also notable is the fact that his arrows punch right through the plate instead of just embedding themselves.

I wish there were reinterpretations of those scenes where the ancient kings are replaced with cute little girls. Narmer Palette in particular would be spectacular, it'd feature the dominatrix loli-king Narmer in bondage gear, wielding a whip (the original has a mace, though) and ready to "punish" the enemy little girl on her knees. Her high priest/maid would be beside her with more sex toys for her loli-king to use as she pleases (in the original, he bears the king's sandals) and a fairy with papyrus stalk clusters as wings would watch the whole scene unfold while masturbating (reflecting the small head amongst papyrus flowers in the original.) There would be two other little girls below the main scene, those would be the previous prisoners who have been violated by the king and are lying in a pool of their vaginal fluids with blushing, lewd expressions on their faces (those are the formerly executed citizens in the Palette itself.)

I like to believe that all ancient conflicts were between little girls and were settled with either lesbian rape or tea parties. We have little evidence that they weren't, anyhow.

It explicitly says that it's copper. Tuthmose II, father of Amenhotep II, is said to have resorted to copper ingots for archery practice because he pierced through wooden targets like paper and quickly made them useless, Amenhotep's reason for using copper might be similar.
