Last (at least for now) update on E-5's branching:

With 0 radars: 10/10 north
With 1 radar (TYPE33): 10/12 south

So as I feared it's not a guaranteed south route but the chance looks quite high.
I have not tested it with more/different RADAR (might do it after I'm done with E-6).
