In her age short videos were the norm, and were backed by companies or experienced content creators, and Nijisanji hasn’t existed yet so home 2D live streamers weren’t popular. Sora was one of the outliers in doing weekly live streams on NicoNico Douga and also had a low budget 3D. Furthermore her personality isn’t loud or sexy which made it easy to overlook her

But it was during Christmas 2017, a few weeks after she changed to Youtube that the miracle occurred: one of the popular vTubers encountered technical difficulties which lead to people to Sora’s stream. This snowballed her growth and ensured the survival of the brand. Eventually Nijisanji launched and did their thing, Hololive followed suit, etc. etc.
