Yes unironically, Annoying Orange feels like a zeitgeist time capsule back to late 00s-early 10s with the humor, pop culture references and all. I watched the OG episodes and a couple others back when it was viral and always on the frontpage of youtube then dropped it when I was focusing on other stuff. I had no idea it ended up getting a TV Show or that the web-series is still on-going with decent viewership until it was posted here (12 seasons/600+ episodes according to wikipedia). Going through all the early episodes again was a complete blast, Particularly season 2-3 (2010-2011) and the Movie/Video Game parodies, which I highly recommend viewing to anyone who hasn't experienced them already. Rewatching it, I got alot of the jokes that I didn't understand back then and also realized that there's surprisingly alot of guest appearences for some of the one-off characters (Jalapeño is voiced by James Caan to name an example)

Another thing that was a great relic back then were the Youtube Annotations that bring you to another video or a specific time in the current video when clicked. This method of viewer interaction allowed content creators the freedom and creativity to make stuff like quizzes, hidden secrets (think of flash movies) and CYOA games. In Annoying Orange's case it was used simply for choosing who you want to see fuck up the opposition (Annoying Orange vs Angry Birds) and the effect was brilliant.

Of course, it's no comedic genius or cinematic masterpiece of any kind, but you can tell Dane had alot of fun writing the stuff (atleast in the older stuff, no idea if he has any control on the newer ones, I'd wager not) It's clearly seen in his performance, that enthusiasm just sorta spreads back, In that sense it also reminds of another great show (Thumb Wrestling Federation) It's just plain stupid fun and I appreciate it for that since everything mostly has to be in several layers of irony nowadays
