It is growing fast, not as fast as the american one tho but definetly is. There are many latinamerican vtubers (most i've seen are from Chile) but most are indies with low view counts and although there are agencies emerging they aren't that big, professional nor consolidated.

The market is definetly here but no one has dared to take the first step.

I can't speak for vtubers, but the weeb market is massive.
Do you remember that one time the governments of Japan and Mexico got pissed off at each other because Mexico was hosting public viewings for the Goku vs Jiren fight?
Even if they don't get the expendable income via supas, chuubas are in it for the ad revenue and sub boost.

There is a lot of people who speak Spanish and are into anime and shit like that. There hasn't been any big spanish speaker vtuber and the small community of vtuber seems to be more focused on the drama rather than the content which leads to very yabe situations that end up being more cringy than anything.

I think the only vtuber that was able to capitalize on the Spanish marker was Kizuna AI but she crashed and burned.
Several other vtubers have tried in the recent months, most notably a certain group who made covers of popular songs like "Lamento boliviano" but seems like they weren't able to keep the momentum for it.

While Pochi may not fall under this category of vtubers trying to get into the Spanish market, I noticed a few more indies that has been streaming Spanish lessons to.

I would say Spanish speakers are more active nowadays on streams, similar to the level Kizuna had a few years ago but there is still a lack of identity for them and many still prefer to communicate in english.

>> No.3891459

Almost every potential market is the world has the same problem, everyone in the demographic vtubers go after (young, tech-savvy, affluent, well-disposed to foreign media) is likely to already speak English. Japan, Korea, and to some extend China are the exceptions. Everywhere in the developing world people learn English because it's a way to better your economic situation, and everyone in Europe learns it because they have a competent education system that actually teaches English, and it's useful for people who speak different local languages to communicate in.

I don't know about Spain, but the South American market for vtubing is untapped and I think people are testing out the waters to see if there's a substantial interest.

I know for a fact every latino kid I grew up with watched Pokemon, Dragonball, Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece in Spanish dub. And lots of households now have a stable internet connection. A buddy I used to play games with was all the way from Chilé and we had the same timezone, so its feasibly possible for vtubers who are popular in the US to try tapping into that market.

>chuubas are in it for the ad revenue and sub boost
Issue is that most of them are ignorant of how toxic too much growth with a transient audience can be. You wanna keep it relatively level, and you especially don't wanna get addicted to the fix of large views from a short-lived bubble of transient viewers, because oftentimes the content that attracts that kind of thing is anthemic to attracting and maintaining gachikoi and most other niche long term audiences.
Hololive was already burned once due to overdependence on a toxic fanbase. But even then, even that fanbase still did shit like churn out a lot of free content in the form of MVs and translations. And it still bit them hard enough to make all of that shit not worth it in the end.

If you wanna be a meme and think you can both keep up with that type of streaming lifestyle, can be satisfied by it, and are ready to accept the type of baggage it brings, go for it 100%, you should do what you think you are best suited for and makes you happy.
I just think people should be made aware of what they're getting into before they do so, is the thing.

>the weeb market is massive in spanish.
Latin American spanish tho.
Yeah, most Anglos, specially burguers, don't know the fact that latin america, specially Mexico, used to air a fuckton of anime because the licenses were far cheaper than those of American cartoons, it was like paying pennies for an entire anime series to hundreds of bucks per "Looney Tunes level" episodes.
>But Anime has adult shit
While the Americans were getting a PG-13 DBZ, Spics got to see all the stuff included in the original Japanese episodes, tits, blood and sexual innuendos, with a dub that didn't pull punches at all and the entire OST, including their own dubbed (and fairly OK) versions of the OPs and EDs, this means that they got the entire movies/OVAs of DBZ, not just cut and then added as episodes or specials for the TV series, and they also got the entire Saint Seiya series (100+ episodes and movies) with all the bloody beatdowns and no cuts, unlike in freedom land which had a lot of concerns about satanism and whatnot at the time so they got the series but cut to like 24 episodes, hyper-censored and localized and there were more episodes to come but those got cancelled for lack of audience, something similar happened to Card Captor Sakura, in the US, the MC is the boy for some weird dub and localization reason and the entire series plot is completely nonsensical while in spic land it was just a dubbed version of the original series with all the "questionable" stuff like that probably lesbian little girl and the love/school drama uncut, including farewells and fights, and talking about lesbians, they also got the original Sailor Moon, which means they showed all the stuff like the naked trasformations and the incest sub-plot, also the lesbos and the deaths of several characters.
>How the fuck didn't the parents let this shit pass
Then again, the spics were ready for this because Telenovelas/Soap Operas in their countries are fucking wild, people killing their fathers for real state in front of their brothers, corporate espionage, mobs lynching the poor, religious symbolism up to 11, mansluts fucking their entire friend group, lost family members returning, Paranormal events far more hardcore than some /x/ threads, company CEOs sending hit squads to their rivals, tranny cover-ups, incestual obssesions, deathbed arcs, childhood friends longing for the MC for 20 years, catfights for the love of some rando, drug consumption, honor duels for the hand of a gal, abusive fathers giving actual beatdowns on TV, poisoning, blackmail, kid labor, starvation, growing madness 100+ episodes per show.

Spics tolerate anime because it's fundamentally similar to their average TV drama that their family as far as their grandparents have been watching, even the radio shows were this absurd back in the day so no surprise the kids and parents don't sperg when the cute anime girl gets shots or the main character gets mortally wounded by a sword on TV, it's average at best.
