With the remake on the horizon, was it really as bad as the e-celebs say?

There's a reason it was in bargain bins and cheap as fuck even when it came out. It was one of those games that your parents would pick up when they were shopping "oh a super cheap game, let's get it for Anon!"

These days it's only worth playing through for laughs. Somehow the Genesis version managed to be better, believe it or not, but it's still not good.
One thing with the game stuck with me though, that's the theme where you fight the mummy fucker, once in a while I get it stuck in my head.

Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn. Apparently it was a huge crowdfunding success. I have mixed feelings about this.

Wow, some people really like throwing money away.

The original is decent with nice animation. People hate it because the Internet video game community either can only love something, or say it's the worst game ever. Nothing is as bad as "critics" say.

>> No.3435194

It's still abysmal but this hack is nice.

From what I gathered it's supposed to be a 3D beat em up with fighting game elements (I'm guessing bosses). The graphics indeed look heavily inspired by SF though.

It's an EA game, so this should not be surprising at all.

>> No.3435340

It's not the worst game in the world and will give you cancer when you play it, but its still pretty bad

That's the problem with reviewers, there's no middle ground between "10/10 masterpiece" and "abomination never play it will kill your children and dreams" for them

Shaq-Fu isn't really anything more than a lighthearted fighting game, 90% of its problem come from overly long animations for everything, then you'll have to deal with retarded hitboxes, lag and shitty AI, which is MKIII tier bad.
It's pretty good looking though and Shaq's one liners can be pretty hilarious if you're into 90's cringeworthy humor.

I played the Genesis version and I can say it's not the worst game in the system by far. Sure, it's not Samurai Spirits but once you get used to its quirkiness it can be fun.
At least it was better than Brutal: Paws of Fury.

sorry bud but we got ourselves to blame on this one. the shitty kids from shaq fu's generation grew up into shitty adults with money and now are using it to bring this crap to the newest generation

The game feels very sluggish, specially when you jump. Moves take too much time to happen, no impact on hits whatsoever, sprites are way too small and so it makes it hard to see what's happening.

I think you need to learn what a millennial actually is.

>> No.3437593

It's just really mediocre and uninteresting.

Graphics are nice but the gameplay is super trite, I say this as a guy who isn't even a huge fan of fighters.

>m-millennials
It never ceases to amaze how retards on this board misuse this word.

Newsflash, people who are in their 30's right now are literally millennials, you're probably like 23 and think you're hot shit because you experienced the tail end of the 90's or something and that gives you more cred than someone who doesn't really remember it.

I had the Genesis version for a bit. Mediocre is the best word I can use to describe it. Not really good at all, but not as bad as other shit known for being some of the worst games ever.

I liked the graphics though

>Millennials (also known as the Millennial Generation[1] or Generation Y, abbreviated to Gen Y) are the demographic cohort between Generation X and Generation Z. There are no precise dates for when the generation starts and ends. Demographers and researchers typically use the early 1980s as starting birth years and use the mid-1990s to the early 2000s as final birth years for the Millennial Generation.
Ergo, you.
