Divvies are attractive for the utility value. Having cash flow without having to sell the underlying is fantastic. I can cover the mortgage on my rental if I need to, I can sell cash covered puts, or I can just turn on the DRIP.

Dividend stocks are also generally low volatility and non cyclical so it makes it brain dead easy to sell covered calls without getting assigned.
