There are legitimately a lot of cool people here, and for as much as people complain about the lack of advice in the threads nowadays, I do still find opportunities to learn here. /asp/ies and adjacents make up the majority of streamers I even watch these days

/vt/ being deleted I guess? I still lurk and occasionally post in a /vg/ general for a game that I haven't played in any regular capacity for about 6 years, I'd have to just entirely become disinterested in vtubing as a whole to stop coming here

Are jackets or coats bad design wise? They seem super common, but I think they clutter the design. People will also usually remove them from things like fanart unless it's a key part of the design. I was considering adding one to my design since I personally like them, but doesn't seem worth it. I know vroid basic hoodie is bad, but I don't plan on using that software or having just a basic hoodie.

I like seeing you all accomplish your goals, and I like to help people that ask for it on these threads. It makes me happy that I can help in weird specific ways, especially when it comes to emulation or sonic ;-)

I think I know what you mean. Irys had the same issue because her vtuber mama was a game artist and did not know how to translate the style to her first model. Artists need to be aware of the limitations of rigging.
Vtuber art styles vary slightly, but the general anime-esque trends are:

>face rendering concentrated around the eyes and edges of the face. mouth has little to no rendering, though there is leeway for details closer to the mouth's edge (lipstick, flesh fang, etc.)
>absence of separate shadow layers. all existing shadows must be baked into the base layer with a few exceptions (hair, neck).
>hair and clothes can have a generous amount of rendering as long as the cut edges are either smoothed out with an airbrush or blend well with the base layer

there are many styles and techniques out there to vtuber art, these are just a few tips off the top of my head. good luck!
