9 seems enough right now. I'd want another if we got another trap that stayed this time. Not much of a rush since only 7 out of the 9 are over 100k with one closing in on 200k subs. Temma and Miyabi look like they'll hit 100k this month. The only one I see pulling in steady numbers is Astel with the help of Apex. Roberu does okay but only draws people in when it's a popular game, his bar talk show, and weird games (like that beat meat game). I think it's mainly on who their core audience was. Niji was already a company with expectations for having both male and female talents. Holostars was created using the branding of an all female "idol" group of streamers. The lads were gimped from the start. Literally all hololive fans at the time were shitting on them and even restrictions lifted the girls swore off all male collabs and did their best to ignore their existence. I'm not a collab beggar, but that kind of treatment from the main branch has to suck either way, were they can't even say a simple hi on twitter without idol niggers demanding they graduate. I'm glad the boys stuck with it and proved they could make it in their own right without any help from the girls.

I admit I'm curious if an EN holostars could work. If you ignore that it would be Cover shitting on the current holostars. People here care about money too much for any established streamers to go virtual where they'd be less popular. They could risk it and go for unknowns and bet on potential which has worked incredibly well in the past, but at best you'd still get a well performing male who pulls in a fraction of the viewers the lowest performing female idol gets.

The point isn't that you can't be a successful Vtuber as a male, but that the exact same person as a female would get double or triple the numbers with no additional effort.

When they have to hire managers for these people and spend time on them while already having so many talents it just makes no sense to add more.
