I couldn't keep my promise of making an Amelia audio, unfortunately. Every attempt at re-creating her voice fell flat. So I settled for another Mori audio where she crawls under your desk and gives the listener that GAWKGAWK 3000. It's not as close to her actual voice as I'd like, but I ran out of tokens, so I had to settle for this.

For the anon that asked about the source I used for the jizz noises. I just went on freesound and epidemic sound. You can use a burner email for both sites. The rest is just editing. This has been a fun testrun for AI incorporated into my audio.I have other horsecock related audio that's admittedly much better quality than this, but it's so far removed from vtubers that I don't feel comfortable posting it. Those who are in the same circles could probably guess.

Guy who made the initial Kronii tests on /waifu/, hijacking the thread a little. I don't mean to doompost or downplay how impressive some of the results of ElevenLabs have been (especially >>42041626 ), but I'd like to remind everyone that there is not a guarantee that ElevenLabs will last forever, if even for a few months, without getting slapped by some sort of filter. There's blood in the water and "muh ethics" are already at the coattails of the site.
What everyone here is doing in regards to data collection is VERY good though. Keep your audio files in their best quality and archive fucking everything, even if you've already gotten a good Eleven model out of a chuuba. If Eleven gets fucked and we have to resort to traditional voice AI solutions (15ai/TalkNet/SoVitsSvc/etc) we will have a MASSIVE run on things by already having large amounts of cleaned data. I'd also suggest that if you're YTDLP-ing whole streams such as watchalongs for this, to also make sure to download the subtitle files using "--write-subs --write-auto-subs" to make the inevitable mind-numbingly boring transcription process easier. If you really want to get the jump on things then starting transcription work now isn't a bad idea either as long as you're not cripplingly ESL.
Other than that, I'll keep myself a lurker for now. Can't wait to see what else this general produces!

these are all fucking terrible, not just because of how the uncanny voices don't quite sound right but also because they're so out of character. None of the girls talk like in these so it instantly destroys the immersion, none of the real girls are as vulgar or crude as what is written here and the lack of hesitation/ awkwardness makes it instantly unbelievable. This is the ultimate conclusion for vtuber technology. So much of a vtuber's career lies in the ability and endurance of its singular voice actor. Taking a break can be costly, and they can't easily be separated from the vtuber. If the voice actor ceases activities, so too does the vtuber. Being able to replace them easily or even have multiple actors being able to operate one vtuber would be ideal in this fast paced world and increase the longevity of each individual vtuber.

The slight issue with that though is that most of the charm of the vtuber is their improvisation. They're playing "characters" sure, but they break those molds (especially EN ones) fairly regularly and speak their own way. While you maybe able to keep the voice going, you'd need to establish actual consistent characters for the vtuber for new actors to try and follow, or else you might as well create a new character entirely.

It won't happen anytime soon, but the audience that you described will likely be phased out over the coming years. Most vtuber fans only really treat vtubers as culture icons and don't care too much about the person behind it. As long as the voice doesn't change, most people won't really care enough to notice if the person changes. There will likely still be indie vtubers that continue the current trend of using their real voice, but I predict that most vtuber companies will gradually adapt AI voiced vtubers since it makes more economic sense.

So why does this commercial shit sound so good compared to the open source options? Ez. They have spent a lot of time to generate a bunch of pre-created voice models that don't sound like robots. Probably handpicked the best sounding ones. Then, they output a few spectograms for each one of them. When a new sample is fed to them, they train a mini model very quick, then they make it say a known sentence to them. The resulting spectogram of the mini model is then compared to their big database of models that don't have robot sounding voices to find the best model for it. Then, they employ multiple AIs for the finetuning of the pre-selected model with your new sample to create a more fully fledged model.
Along these steps they most likely use sox to split the audio file in multiple sentences, whisper to transcribe them and so on, but for an open source alternative, we are missing the massive pre-generated model list they use initially.
