You should read the wiki article for the full thing but basically Trump people rioted outside the legislature building, forced their way past security injuring a lot of people, milled around in the building trashing stuff, and tried to get into the main chamber before security shot someone in the head and they backed down. They had no real plan other than to disrupt the vote certification to elect Biden, so calling it a coup is a bit overwrought because that simply would have been rescheduled.
