The general rule of thumb is Twitch if your content is primarily based on livestreaming and YouTube if your content is primarily pre-recorded and edited.

>Do you think there's an audience for X, Y, Z content?
First, ask yourself if you would watch a streamer of your skill and experience. Second, do a check on social media and look to see if other streamers are already creating similar content. Don't limit yourself to vtubers, include traditional real life streamers to scope out a potential audience.

I was watching his streams he said he would was "going home" after living in I think a dorm.

At some point his laptop got shot. Which looked like water damage to me since the vid he sent random keys would type. Sometimes I wonder what I'm even aiming for. Most of the other vtubers I encounter are people I'm pretty sure I would hate if the vtuber mask was removed. yes raiding is one of the main things putting twitch above youtube in terms of growth although youtube just got raids as well but theres less of a raiding culture and its harder to find new people to raid

if you look at some of the better performing aspies, they are getting raided almost every single stream and often times by several people. Hes for example has been seeing some pretty good numbers from raids. like you can always make the argument that raiders aren't real viewers but eyes on you are eyes on you, to make it you need ANYTHING to boost numbers, raids included.

Yes, /circlejerk/ lives off of raids. A lot of them should be considered fake viewers though. A viewer being passed around the same funnel will say "Oh I know this person, I'll keep his tab up." without actually watching.

My brain is doing the thing where it compares me to other people again. I want to ask the thread where I should be as I’m now nearly half a year into doing this, but I recognize that there’s no correct answer to that question and that I haven’t even been doing this for very long. Something really shitty happened in the summer and I didn’t stream for a month, and I’m just feeling kinda insecure I guess. Growth is very slow so far but I don’t really feel like I can complain.

I'm picky about the people I watch and how long I will watch them but I only follow when I feel fairly certain I want to keep an eye on them outside of just recommends. It's usually after months or a year or more before I click follow. Some people follow everyone and anyone and don't care at all. I started doing it because I want to make people laugh, brighten up their days and share my passions for playing old ass video games and voice acting. My ultimate goal is to build enough experience to make it into one of the major vtuber corporations and develop my skills further, maybe as some kind of virtual idol comedian. It's better to put the bare minimum than actually not showing up. If you can stream then stream. If you can't then let your viewers know. The worst thing you can do is give up or to extend your hiatus even longer. One key to streaming is consistency and stopping any amount of momentum is going to make it worse. You're only comparing yourself to the people growing faster around you because they're doing what you're supposed to do.

It's important to understand while these are often necessary for success they are not a guarantee of success. I feel like that is a huge part of what makes this hobby so menhera, in many other things there is a logical progression of hard work/training into results.
