I'm a mere diamond player but you usually use the lines on the scope to lead your shot at long range, if I'm using an automatic weapon I like using the bullets to gauge distance but it's honestly not worth most of the time because long range engagements suck in apex. Still worth learning to clap people that are running away however.

Firstly, let me preface that long range meta is slowly shifting towards Longbows since some pros are experimenting with long range engagement, but nothing concrete is formed yet. And people are confused about what is the purpose of long range. Before you ask how to aim long range, ask yourself why would you need to engage an enemy long range.
A 3-man longbow can practically down anyone at 200m, but I believe you're asking long range building window to building window engagement, which is 100m (and considering a lot of legend out there have some sort of gap closer such as Octane, Wraith and Pathfinder.
Anyways, first, you need a suitable weapon for 100m engagement. R301, L-Star, Rampage and G7. A scope, 2x bruiser is plenty enough for a long range engagement. Flatline can work, but I do not recommend it because its really hard to control although it claps at hipfire.
Now the secret. You actually don't need to predict recoil like in CSGO. If you "micro wiggle" your pointer left and right so slightly multiple times, the recoil doesn't climb up as it should be. Do note this does not help you with bullet drop, and muzzle velocity.

Back to my proposed question, why do you need to take ranged engagement, while its so much better to just jump on some poor squad and put shotguns into their skulls? You do this because you want to remove their recovery. Which is why pro players have more than half their inventory shield cells, and medkits. Hence, long range is only useful if you yourself, know how to not get hit while doing so. And not wasting your ammo by missing your shot into the walls. Otherwise, both you and the enemy team will be another breakfast for the 3rd party.
