How the fuck is she so good at English Duolingo?

>> No.957577

My rrat is that she already knows English and just pretends that she doesn't know it.

Rrats?

I think her only problem is the pronunciation

Duolingo is a game of pattern recognition.

This, it's the most autistic way of learning a language

>> No.957847

Can we learn Japanese as fast as she does English?

>> No.960058

>>957847
No

Most schools offer English as a subject in Primary school and High School

She likely learns fast because she's only re-learning her past English lessons

(You) on other hand have to start from scratch

practice

Yeah, there is no way she would be this good from only the practice she's done on stream.

She's gotta follow the money: her EOP fanbase.

Duolingo don't seem like a good way to actually learn a language.

It's enough for the week-long vacation at the country you're staying

Most JOP already noped out.

She's young and smart. A shame about her personality though.

I wasted many hours on Duolingo before I realized this. I would still recommend it vs doing nothing though.

For me, without the prompts i could not conjure the Japanese in the wild.

Basic example, the question will show: 'This is a pen'
You easily respond with これはぺんです. You have seen this question a million times, its easy!

All you have taught your brain to do is respond with これはぺんです to the question of "This is a pen". When the time comes for you to come up with sentences on your own without that prompt your brain will go silent. You have learned how to push the button kore wa pen when you see the question This is a pen, nothing more.

I think it depends on learning style though. Some people can recall everything they see on it.

I dunno, if you understand that the sentence consists of "kore wa pen desu" in parts, you could then modify it to suit your needs.
You'd probably understand what each part means, so you'd go "well, now I can also say kore wa ichigo desu"

Yes, its the problem with Duolingo. You really cannot learn how sentences are build from prompts of random hieroglyphs or sound clips. This kind of learning is fine for kanji and words, but not for structure or building upon learned sentences. I have done two courses of nihongo in my university and it has been really good for my learning. 7 hours of teaching in week.
