Starving yourself is a terrible way to lose weight. There is literally only one (healthy) way to lose weight and that's diet and exercise. If you burn more calories than you ingest, you'll lose weight. If a lot of the calories you ingest are protein, and your exercise includes strength training, your body will lose more fat than muscle. And that's it.
The first month will suck, but after that, when you first start seeing the results and how much better you feel, it gets addicting, like "just how healthy can I get?" I lost 25 pounds, essentially none of which was muscle, over the last 6 months. I believe in you, anon, all ya gotta do is start.
