While Cover has tied 3D debuts to subscriber goals in the past (IIRC it was something like 50K and then upped to 100K?) at no point was it stated that Regloss wouldn't get their 3D debut if they didn't make the 500K/2.5M subscriber goal. Among other reasons why they obviously wouldn't do that there would be a lot of (entirely justified) outrage if they said "you didn't hit this subscriber goal, no 3D for you" in the same year they gave 3D to six Holostars whose sub numbers were nowhere near that goal.

Yeah, I think a lot of the appeal of corpos in general and Holo in particular is just that they're a big group that does a lot of stuff together, frequently involving mashing together combinations of people who would otherwise never collab, and you inevitably lose that by leaving to go indie even if you do land in Vshojo or some streamer clique.

Coco's probably the biggest example of this since not only was a lot of the content that defined her (AsaCoco, meme review) based on bouncing off of her fellow Holomems part of her core appeal there was the contrast of being the American who made dirty jokes and swore a lot in a group of seiso Japanese idols. I wouldn't even say her current stuff is *worse* per se, but the vibe is different to a greater degree than most other post-corpo indies have changed.
