Ok, how the hell are you supposed to know 水生 is read as みぶ in this game? I didn't think too much of the fact that I couldn't read it, but even Patra went with すいせい. If native speakers can't read this shit, how does that work? Are you just supposed to wait until someone says it out loud in dialogue? you'll still feel kinda dumb (if you're a native) but fellow native speakers will understand if it's an obscure kanji/reading. In English you can get away with not knowing a word if it's something literally nobody would know (like the word "wont (not won't)" in FF14).
