While the stuff you say is true, the lack of minimaps and waypoints requires you to engage with the game in a way you don't have to in modern games. I played DG3 on a snes emulator not long ago and I enjoyed the uncertainty sometimes, the minimal handholding and lack of modern UI elements made me read dialog and follow along way more carefully than I would in a modern Bethesda adventure rpg because it forced me to. Some people just enjoy that, it's not just old game good because old.

This. Look at games like Metal Slader Glory, Mr. Gimmick, The Guardian Legend, Joy Mech Fight that push the system to his full potential. It's much more interesting to play than some PC game has nice graphics, but doesn't push the envelope.
