Floatsam is... Not surprisingly common in the continental ravine. Before airship travel sailors traveled by sea through the dangerous currents and crags of the continental ravine. Due to the ring of fire underneath the plates splitting apart it is very common for volcanic spires to form under water. These hotspots form volcanic crags that can reach shallow level. In the old days it was common for sailors to crash their ships into the underwater crags which often led to ships sinking. This created a need for salvagers to come reclaim the ships and save as much cargo as possible. Sometimes the salvagers themselves were pirates who scavenged the seas for floatsam. Then they plundered the treasures for themselves. And any sailors that survived were often sold into indentured servitude or slavery. Women, especially nobles, were very valueable assets as they'd be used for sex while the pirates send ransom letters.

Of course once the airship was invented sailing in the waters of the continental ravine was no longer necessary. Still airships still fall into the ravine often due to maintenance failures or being shot out of the sky. Salvagers have evolved to use sea to air vessels that reclaim lost airship cargo and rescue people to bring them to land. Often a settled island base where people and cargo are to be picked up by their home nation.

Some more notes about the event area. Will probably add more onto it later
>Event theme park area
- Watson Industries has developed a way to artificially create weather within an area in the city designed for events all year round
- Due to /awat/ existing very close to the equator, weather is normally humid, wet, hot and sunny
- Watson Industries created a machine that absorbs all the humid air surrounding the city and uses all the liquid gathered by it to manipulator a building that is nearby Watson Industries to create a number of different climates which include
- Cool air
- Snow
- Rain (Less summer or spring rain and more fall and winter rain)
- Winds
- During the spring and summer times of the year the building opens its roof due to the weather being normal for that time of the year
- The event area during the fall is decorated for fall with crisp cool air flowing through it. It is not normally used for halloween as that is more for the rest of the nation to take part of so its solely used to fall themeing but may have parts themed around halloween
- During the final week of November the weather gradually gets colder and the the decorations is rotated out to more winter and holiday centric things
- Many people underestimate the artificial weather cycle with in the building thinking it will be set to a comfortable temperature for the residents but in reality it is set to a very natural cycle and has its own weather predictions for visitors. There may even be times where it becomes drastically below freezing along with winds and even heavy snowfall. Visitors are advised to bring extra layers during their time there.

Harvest season is in the fall. Most of the food grown in fall is hearty vegetables that can last a very long time like potatoes, carrots, and onions. The food grown has to last all winter plus the early months of spring. Fall and winter is also when you process your beef cattle and swine when it's not so hot the meat instantly rots. Meat is smoked and processed in salt. Smoked meat is eaten throughout winter. Salted meat is used as ration food during spring and summer whenever foraging or hunting doesn't bring enough food.

And of course you also have to have dry grains that you crush into flour or meal for winter and spring. You also have dried beans, peas, and other legumes that you soak then boil or bake.

So I need to do something about making Loreli's government. It's bigger than a village now. But it's not quite a massive state.

>> No.89775448

Speaking of city planning I do need to figure out Loreli's districts. It has urban districts around the airship port but it also has rural districts and farms and fishery. Maybe a Harvest Moon town might be the best way to explain it. I'm just trying to brute force a topic to get started.

When I speak of the urban center I really just mean the town around the airship port. And we're talking about maybe ten buildings together at most. Late response but I'm dying because I ate a half pizza.

The airport town is literally 10 buildings. And they're not even sky scrapers. The buildings are mostly offices and boarding houses with a few maintenance shops. The boarding houses are for maintenance crews that fix up the airships. There's a hotel for visitors that want to sleep off-ship or are waiting for the next ship to arrive. Most shopping is done in the trading area with warehouses for rent. The locals mostly offer shellfish and wine in the airport tavern. Locals do sell hospitality in the rural areas for visitors that stay for longer. Dodos are very popular to watch. The capybara ranch has turned into a tourist hotspot.

Meat for food obviously. Hides can be tanned into luxurious soft leather with a lot of work. In fact in our world carpincho leather is one of the most expensive leathers on the planet. And then there's the bones which you can boil down and mix into dogfood. The bones can also be used for decorative handles for silverware. Not so much for tools. Teeth could be used to make some leatherworking or soft material tools. Though iron is better; even if we're dealing with sand iron.

>>89827148 (me)
Just a quick update on bones. Bones were used more for decorations than tools. Capy bones aren't as big as deer or cattle bones. They can be used for smaller tools such as needles and spoons in theory.

Tequila is made from blue aguave exclusively in Mexico. Vodka is made from cereal grains and potatoes. Corn is a cereal. So you're right that corn can be made into vodka.
