CR Cup is the tournament with a forced 'at least one male and female' policy and it is the only one Cover acknowledges. Cover did not allow Shibuya Hal to put male V-Tubers on a Hololive girls' team in January, and I'm certain that the only reason Astel was given the thumbs up is because he's HoloPro and Cover have to pretend that they don't hate Holostars. They still DO get involved with dictating who can and can't collaborate with them even in these APEX events.

We even know that the Gen 1 and Gen 2 girls used to collab with Nijisanji men until doing so became less and less lucrative and they were able to stop leeching. The ones who care about their idol image will not go near guys.

So the truth is somewhere in the middle. Cover ARE restrictive and anal about collabs, but most people join because the money is good if you remain insular.
