Nowadays there are quite a few fully animated hololive PVs that don’t pop off, like the holowitches PV.
For Marine, I think she’s very good with overall direction. The songs are good and the animation pairs with the music perfectly.
Miko’s recent anime PV isn’t bad at all, but the music just doesn’t suit being animated. It feels very apparent once it gets to the scene where Miko flies in to face mikodanye and suisei is beating up the 35p. It really just feels like a “put in all of my stuff and make it stick” project, whereas marine has a very anime influenced direction where you can see her influence from like IOSYS flash videos to older anime

Nini debbies. I'm very excited for the live and lyric dive coming up soon, the thing I love the most in this life is definitely hearing Mori talk about her work.
I really love PHANTOMIME, can't wait to listen to it all day once I'm up. The way it's half very energetic and half very emotional is great, I've always been a fan of louder and higher energy songs(my favorites from this are definitely Overkill, Cult Following and DONMAI) but I don't know if it's just because it's her of if she's really just THAT fucking good but she makes me love these slower calm emotional songs, it does help that somehow her music is always retatable as fuck to my personal experiences but these last two tracks made me break down, in a good way... Also, I love the references to past tracks of hers, I caught mentions of Tide and End of a Life in the lyrics, there might be more but I have to re-listen. Well, she's amazing and her work is the best, I'm really glad we have her. Let's have lots of fun tomorrow, I hope you're all enjoying the new album a lot too.

I'm at Skeletons now. It's good, but I feel like this album blew its load early. None of the new ones have physically stunned me like Wanted Wasted did in Sinderella. My favourite is Overkill, which was already released, since I like those hard banger songs. I'm excited to see if the next to make me take back my words within the next 10 minutes though.

I think what took me out of a cohesive experience is that we have too many songs that we've already heard and had the chance to fully digest. Tide, Overkill, Go Getters, and Midnight Mayoi were all released as singles. I think these albums really shine as stories, almost, where the songs progress into one another. It's like how Jigoku 6 gets improved by replacing Future Island with Wanted Wasted.

So when these songs are arranged like that, it feels like we're taking a break from Phantomime to listen to Go Getters for 4 minutes, instead of having it be packed together. Does anyone get that vibe too?

Overkill ended up tying with Sneaking Revenge for my least favorite and I still fuck with them hard.

I'd rate the first three songs like a disjointed trilogy then you get hit by the rock one, MM honestly feels offputing as the starter to the vibes of the second half and the sad poetry trio at the end is like 3 EoaLs

Yeah the cohesion is not there at all, feels like we got 3 or 4 Future Island breaking tracks in this.
But it's a nice collection in the end.
Sinderella is probably her most cohesive and I like it the least, Phantomime kinda feels like a experimental sequel to UnAlive but more explosive.

I can't give a full on Fantano Beat review but I really like the album this is her best UMJ work yet and Skeletons, Last Days and Through the Blue really do hit. I felt this too. Since I honestly only listen to fast music, I couldn’t get into the latter half since I’m not one for slower music. Doesn’t mean any of it is bad in fact I think they’re pretty dang good, but the beginning hyped me up just for it to kind of slope down.
It would’ve been awesome if future island with marine had been on the digital streaming release. That would have picked it up since I didn’t feel like listening to go-getters with the feature since it’s already at the start

It's 4am here but before I hit the sack I'm going to give a controversial take: it feels kind of wrong putting anything after Through the Blue, let alone the Yoon version of Go-Getters. It's the most personal song she's ever written and the perfect thing to cap off the album with. It's too sudden of a whiplash to go from her processing the loss of a loved one to a weaker version of a song I associate with Amanda Waller busting it down.
With that being said have a good night, /morig/. Think tomorrow I might try to give my full thoughts on the album even though I'm not that good at putting things into words.

more thoughts on Phantomime I think UMJ needs to stop fucking putting in promotional songs that don't fit like for example Future Island in J6 I love the song but it doesn't even in an expresso dresso EP like that same goes with songs like Go Getters and Midnight Mayoi I don't hate those songs I absolutely love them but they don't fit in and album that has tons of rock in it and especially after Midnight Mayoi to Skeletons there's a huge tonal whiplash. I think if she is to put a promotional song in a future work it needs to be in theme genre or tone wise with the album. I get that it's there to sell the work but I feel like that's the only thing that hold her work from being absolutely perfect other than that Phantomime and all its songs fuck!
