Substance use is regulated with a very loose hand in Morijigoku. In most denominations, psychoactive substances are wholly unregulated, though alcohol is the only drug with near-universal spread. Tobacco is grown in some parts of the northern jungles and made into cigars, but most cigars consumed in the country are actually imported. Moriama can cause hallucinations, communications with the divines, and physiological effects, so it is a drug by most definitions, but it's considered a religious conduit by Deadbeats and thus treated with respect; the religious class consumes it in large quantities as part of their training and rituals, while commoners will absorb trace amounts of it in their daily food and water intake, and may imbibe more highly concentrated forms of it in religious festivals, holidays, or special occasions.

Since the Morijigokun coastal cities are nexuses of world trade, and illicit substances are allowed, it is common for traders operating in the legally gray areas of other countries to do their business here, out of sight and out of mind of authorities that might want to put an end to their activities.

Cont.
In my household, the most common topping will surely be a classic fellhuhn* egg prepared however we like. If you want to get something ready for future meals, hard-pickled eggs are a great choice!

Hard-Pickled Egg
- A dozen eggs
- A 2-3 liter jar
- A tablespoon of salt
- A tablespoon of red-leaf sugar
- Two tablespoons of Rock-Squid ink
- Red-leaf vinegar
- Water from the tap
- A few smashed cloves of garlic

Simply put in the eggs and garlic in the jar, dissolve the ink, salt and sugar into about 600 mL of water and pour it in. Fill up the jar halfway with water, and all the way to the top with the vinegar. Seal the lid, and allow to pickle for at least 5 days for best results. This recipe is quite a remarkable process, as the vinegar will dissolve the egg's shell, while the ink will cure it! The flavors of all the other ingredients are also infused into it, creating a delicious result. Once ready, the eggs will look jet black from the outside, and feel soft and bouncy to the touch. Cut them into quarters and spread on top of your bowl of obaba for a deliciously zingy, nutritious touch.

However, the real crowd pleaser would be herring sashimi. Freshly cut from the filet, or from a pickled fish, herring is flavourful and provides the savoury touch which takes your obaba to the next level. I simply slice it thinly at an angle to tender slices that almost melt in your mouth, and layer them on top of the bowl. I'd recommend always keeping at least half a dozen live herrings in your home's aquarium, ready to be whipped up into a quick meal. With my family, it's rare that one survives more than a day!

Now for other mix-ins, my kids always love dried fruits. Dried blueberries, eldenberries, cloudberries are all superb choices. You can put them in right before serving, to get a chewier, sweeter inclusion, or put them with the ice grass before cooking, which allows them to mellow out and soften. On the saltier side, flakes of dried trout and dried seaweed are a great way to add depth of flavor to the broth. If you'd like a component with a crunchy texture, I would recommend you give a try to crystallized red-leaves! Even once mixed in, they will retain their crispness for some time, and are true bursts of sweet, floral flavor.

Obaba is a great opportunity to be culinarily creative! Maybe there is a lical smoked iron-crab that you could try working into it? Or a tasty glacier snake venom condiment made by your family since times immemorial? Give them a try! You should see the dish as a canvas on which to express your creativity in all its deliciousness!

fellhuhn*: Alpine chicken species notable for its fur-like, warm feather duvet. Raised in many of the colder parts of the Onyx Mountains, and originating from /kfp/.

ALRIGHT YOU MOTHERFUCKERS LETS DO THIS

Today in Group 1
nothing....it turns out the fuckers when they "leveled up" just changed the 1 to a 2 on their sheets and never looked up how to increase stats so i was running a lvl 2 game with lvl 1's. Took me noticing a lvl 3 barbarian with 8 HP to think that something is wrong. So we spent the entire time giving these fuckers all their shit that they were supposed to have anyway which took up the entire time.

AND NOW GROUP 2 WHO ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME

And they're gonna die. No seriously here is what happened.
>They all camping in a little cave network getting a long rest
>Leeroy Jenkins (now a wizard) wanted to investigate the bugbears they saw earlier
>rest of the party says no
>"fuck it ill do it anyway"
>uses spiderclimb and tries to be stealthy on the roof of cave
>rolls a fucking 5 for stealth
>"HEY LOOK THAT FUNNY HUMAN IS ON THE CEILING! I WONDER IF I CAN HIT IT WITH MY JAVELIN!"
>Fucking nat 20 and take out all his HP in a single hit
>rest of party watching from a distance reluctantly before try to save him
>fight ensures
>kill 1 of 3 and other 2 are pretty hurt, mostly by warlock eldritch blast spam and wizard girl spamming burning hands
>2 remaining ones decide to run off full speed with their prize back to cave basecamp
>rest of party pursue after them except the ranger who just backs up and goes back to that dead end they slept in earlier
>they find bugbear basecamp and it goes from a 4v3 to a 3v6 (ranger retreated)
>LETS TRY TO SAVE HIM GUYS!
>MFW they could barely handle 3 of them as a party of 4 and now 1 of them is down, 1 retreated, the 3 fighting burned their spell slots, and the bugbears are in their home camp so no more retreating

If the ranger didnt retreat it would have been a TPK. Pic VERY related

I think wet environments prefer's ship's biscuits over storing raw flour and yeast. Dry grains might survive the voyage but they're tough to grind by hand. And if they do get wet and spoil then the rot risks creating so much heat it sometimes creates fires. Ship's biscuits have an interesting history with both naval and river voyages.

>> No.81942275

Salt pork is not like jerky. You have to soak salt pork for hours to get all the salt out. Then you can boil or cut up the pork to use in your meals. Jerky is made by marinating the meat and drying it out by either smoking it or sun drying. And it's too cold to sun dry anything in the /morig/ glaciers. Unless you have way of cooking where you magnify the heat by using ice like a magnefying glass. That could be a way to cook.

So where does Baker-chan get so much processed supplies when she's exiled from Sanallite Station? Well Baker-chan is only exiled from the station owned colonies. There are private earthbound colonies and factories that are not owned by the station. These stations are technically rogue. But they are profitable enough for the station to cut deals with. And there's not enough personel and equipment on the station to seize all the rogue colonies.

Nevertheless the flying bakery has it's own food processing in regards to freeze-drying and pasteurizing. This is why Baker-chan asks for fresh ingredients with meat, dairy, eggs, fruits, and vegetables. The ship processes them into dry frozen or pasteurized goods. And while dry grains are the preferred storage the ship has micro-mills to grind and filter grains into flour. Keep in mind that the ship's storage is no where near as big as an industrial factory. So it's better to buy already processed ingredients in bulk from the Sanallite colonies. That said Baker-chan is learning to tolerate colonial era voyager food. She's quite fond of oatmeal and booze. Not so much ship's biscuits and salted meat. Baker-chan isn't much of a big meat eater.

Textiles from Sanallites? No. They need machine washing since they're graphine, latex, and polyester. Textiles bartered from other countries? Yes. Textiles from other countries are worth more than gold sometimes. Sometimes you can trade dry grains and fruit preserves for textiles.

Speaking of fruit preserves we have thousands of jars for a variety of fruits from apple, to peach, to orange, to different kinds of berries.

You did well! I feel I really should start writing again especially now that there are more people around here. I’ll try to get stuff done after I recover but here’s something I wrote down in a hurry
>Motag
It’s an underground city located under the mountain of the same name, which is also the highest point of /vnug/. It was originally founded by an isolationistic group who were particularly into the whole “we came from space” thing and thought the original ship was buried somewhere beneath the mountain, and the goddess left a beacon (“motag” in /vnug/ language) to rally her followers. Their isolationism might’ve mellowed out if you want your group to visit it and have a good time but they’re probably still on the stranger side of things. I wrote that their main export is ice since they can just mine it from the glaciers and sent them downstream on a raft, but in hindsight It might be a bit boring so maybe they can also be technologically advanced due to their origin as basically a tech cult. They might have the best tech but said tech might not be widespread or “practical”
It’s also a PL reference
>Gwangmul
I think I made that an underground mining city the last time we talked about it. I think it’ll make sense for it to have a lotta industry built around its mineral abundance. Naturally they’ll vent the smog to the surface but leaks are inevitable so maybe it can have a nice smog town aesthetics if you’re into that. Having a city dedicated to mass-produced goods probably makes for a nice contrast to the rest of the /vnug/ which is more into fine, hand-crafted pieces of art and refined pieces of art
>The White City
The capital of /vnug/! It’s the center of /vnug/ high culture (to Sematol’s “low culture”) and religious core. It’s built in a large cave using limestones, marbles and alabaster. I don’t know if we should put the avatars of our vtubers here or should we have them in their own city. Maybe they travel between them?

For the map I imagine the city locations to be something like this! I have Motag under the ice cap which is closer to the highest point of the country (although the foreigner entrance to the underground city might be located quite far away in a more habitable place) while Gwangmul being at where rivers converge sounds nice to me! As for the White City I meant for it to be next to an underground portion of the Alph river. I chose the upper one since that puts the city a bit further away from Gwangmul

Oh that post wasn't a reply to me. I just watched it though, Townsends is always a good time, I think I watched this over a year ago close to when it released. /morig/ would probably have some kind of salt cod equivalent to use as a protein staple for when you're traveling far from any sources of food, or for sailors, for sure. Though some /morig/ ships come with free refrigeration so it'd be a smaller part of their rations, more like a backup if other stuff went foul for some reason. Salted meat (pork or fish) isn't very tasty though, so I can't imagine it's very highly regarded culinarily compared to fresh fish; it's a very utilitarian product.

I made stir-fry sweet potatoe, mushrooms, and steak for dinner. It was edible somehow. I'd need to add white onions next time.

>> No.82062999

So I'm terrible at stir-fry. I never had decent equipment. My stove is glass electric. Half the time the wok gets burnt not by me. And I always add too little or too much of an ingredient when frying. So the wok is either too dry or too wet. Lately I'm getting into the habit of towel drying ingredients. I don't like adding seasoning or marinade until the last moment because it burns in the pan.

Maybe a stir-fry master can help write stir-fry lore. I know stir-frying is one of the earliest forms of modern cooking outside of boiling and baking.

Once upon a tine, on an island off the main continents, crashed an UFO. The prinitive locals could feel the shock in every settlement of theirs and when they gathered to investigate this strange happening they discovered a new fate for themselves.
The site was a mess that even with todays standard you would never assume anyone to survive, yet from the wreckage emerged its crew almost unscathed. For they were men of metal and with them came knowledge that changed everything. A nation would soon be born on the island
It has been ages since and while this nation still only calls that island their own soil, the nation has grown numerous and farspread, for the people of this nation live on wondrous machine that allow them to traverse the skies in fleets of nonadic people.
They call these inventions:

So... I need to make more cute girls. I guess I can make Joshua cute in human form. I want her to wear glasses and have pig tails. Though her top is too short. So her belly's exposed all the time. Shorts and knee-high socks are cute.
