NTA, but you're so right and most people are like you. It's just a weird culture thing where everyone pretends like content doesn't matter. To be sure, the most hardcore fans will suffer through anything just because it tickles their autism like that, but they make up less than half of the usual viewers.
I would argue it's important honestly. Negative feedback (even something as mild as "I found this game a bit dull") is basically impossible without getting jumped on, so metrics (and /here/) is the only way to tell.
Now, certain people are really good at zatsu and they are able to make even poor content into pretty decent content, but it doesn't always hit and it's seldom ideal. (That's why I appreciate that CC seems to be conscious about these things. She knows what she's doing.)
