The original does have it's fair share of problems, I'm not going to argue about that. Even with the fanpatches you can glitch yourself into multiple unfinished areas, swim through the air(you still use up your breath) among other outright stupidly broken things.
The big problem with the remake is that is just feels like someone who never played gothic, did not understand gothic, doesn't understand the culture it was born from and just saw money in a franchise they had rights to took a shot at the game and royally fucked it up.
