He's just retarded, but the basic idea started with sci-fi. If aliens get here it means they have FTL travel, which means their level of technology must be much more advanced than our own. Presumably that means they could easily take us out by hurling an FTL object at our planet or something similar. Makes sense.
Power-level nerds co-opted this to their fanfics and decided that if a being is from a "different universe" or different dimension, then that must means that they can somehow destroy entire dimensions. They often liken this to the idea of a 3D character interacting with a 2D world, i.e. the 2D characters would be unable to do anything to the 3D one because they are simply at a different level. This is of course all completely retarded and pointless when applied to fictional worlds where anything the writer says goes, but that doesn't stop them.
Anyway, it's just harmless fun. I just wish they'd recognize that themselves and that there's no one true answer for any of this because it's all made-up nonsense anyway.
