Not in the slightest. What I want to do with Gigi is focus on electricity (she feels electric) and rushdown. I think a marking system that lets her insta-teleport onto someone would be the most efficient way to go about it, as well as a higher-stun sweetspot tipper system on her fists for all moves that involve them, so she can more efficiently chase you. Think kind of like clairen but without the disjoints. Bijou is much more focused on flashy but impractical punching moves that look and feel satisfying when they hit

Huh! I’ve been underestimating how good of a recovery move the dogs’ side special is. The thing effectively just teleports to ledge, and because you can grab it while moving upward (some moves can do that), you get essentially a free ledge grab… so long as you’re not intercepted or ledge hogged. It’s going to be interesting to see how people use this, since it lets them go wide offstage for gimps and followups

I'm not a fan of the lack of consistency in terms of game plans and overall powercreep. For example, Doc and Luigi are both slow characters with good frame data. Doc feels fair (but he sucks admittedly), Luigi feels like bullshit. Also one problem I've had with Smash forever is that they haven't gotten the ledge mechanics right yet. Melee was probably closest, but planking and how your opponent can't grab ledge for an eternity when you do a ledge roll is insane. Ultimate makes 90% recoveries free because everyone gets like a billion recovery options, tether recoveries instead of being useless in Brawl are broken, and if you're not a specific class of privileged characters, there's no reason for you to go offstage, all you do is aim for a 2 frame.

I mean getting into ledge is a topic I think a lot of people have a really hard time getting the nuances on. I agree the melee formula is the best, and the shift to upward grabs in 4 was a terrible idea. It just makes it too easy to get to ledge, so easy they had to deliberately nerf it with the bandaid of 2 framing. So you went from melee where ledge was hard to get to but too good when you were there, to 4 where ledge is almost free to get to but kind of ass once you’re there. So gimping and guarding goes from very powerful but risky to completely pointless, just ledge trap because once they’re there, they’re kinda stuck.
I think if we use the melee system as a base, the way to fix it would be to limit ledge regrabs per airtime, but also decrease intangibility per regrab until you’re eventually totally vulnerable by grab 4 or so. And also, to prevent it from becoming too busted, remove intangibility on drop. To compensate, the standard getup options would be made better so you can’t as easily bait them out with a trap, and drop from ledge should also be as fast as melee so you can mix up your path better

I will say that in a vacuum, I don't think ledge trump is a bad mechanic, it's just given a worse rep because most recoveries have too many mixups and go too far, auto-ledge snap and Ult tethers make it basically free to grab ledge and trump, and ledge grab is too powerful in the sense that some characters can't even hit ledge grabs without a huge commitment option that can be reacted to and reversaled every time. If you did go with Melee, I'd also allow ledge grab against ledge roll/attack to be easier. Mainly because it feels so illogical that you can't grab a ledge when the opponent isn't even holding on to the ledge, they're in the middle of a roll almost halfway on the stage.

I made it like 45 frames for roll and attack, and 27 for getup I think. Also added 20 for jump iirc. Recoveries when timed well last a lot longer in the ledge grab range than you’d think, so as long as it’s not dummy long it’s usually fine. Just time things right
