Now dull doesnt mean bad. They had fun fucking around, but for most of us the stream became background noise because why do i care about this holoearth thingy if nothing is gonna happen.

I mean it's still under development and you wanna have the base game ready before you start adding extra features. I imagine they'll have an update where they add mascots roaming around the world. That alone would make the game feel more Hololive like. Would be cool to have them as mobs/bosses like in the Promise MV. Holo NPCs with recorded voicelines is also a nobrainer. It's not much of a game right now but I think it has a solid foundation and depending on where they go from here it has the potential to turn into something interesting.

Like i can forgive it being barebones, since it runs relatively smooth for such a big project and the idea for a hub where they can render models isnt bad. The problem is the digital scarcity items and predatory nature of all the systems tiying this together.

Unless I'm missing something, they haven't shown anything in the game that would warrant that comparison. Gacha games are built from the groundup to be predatory, even if they give you the illusion that you can stay F2P they will pull out every trick in the book to make you spend money.
A more accurate comparison would be something like TF2 where 100% of the game is free, you can pay to look fancy and while some people do that you are in no way forced to in order to fully enjoy the game. Whereas in gachas there's powercreep, there's content designed specifically to sell new weapons/characters, FOMO stuff etc.
