As performers tho yeah they suck. Kizuna Ai's dances look like they all MMD and watching them now they all look Soulless. Singing wise it's a meh it's like a Mid tier Holo singer like Flair or Choco. They ain't that bad all things considered

I agree. I really disliked Kizuna Ai cause to me it was just zoomer content for low attention span people with how over-edited and scripted the whole thing was. It was a cool gimmick but nothing more. What really got me into vtubers were the livestreams from HoloJP and NijiJP in their early days.

No she didn't. Also vtubing outside of Japan probably was a mistake, but so far it hasn't had any real negative impact on the JP vtubers and their content. I still watch a lot of the same vtubers I watched several years ago and it's still the same great experience detached from the west. I just try to not look at whatever the fuck western vtubing has become.

Mito and nijisnaji popularized the shit tier format of today's vtubing that put quantity over quality (streaming over sketches/music videos). The usage of Live2D turned trained anime girls into your typical twitch streamer with an anime avatar, saturating the market. On top of that, nijisanji and hololive started to hire fucking zoomer utaites as vtubers.
The utaite scene was always shit full of drama. Yagoo kind of avoided it for a bit, by injecting the idolm@ster culture. But like I said, fucking utaites had to put their hands on this hobby.
