Botan does seem to have an interest in Nijisanji though, following Apex content centered ones such as Chigusa and Bora. The war is very much fan perpetuated, and the talents within the two companies get along just fine. But it's true that Gura shows no interest in anything outside of Hololive, so sticking to her might be your best bet if the other company is really so detestable.

Live streaming with an anime avatar has been normalized in Japan but not worldwide.

Which means the EoP audience is going to prefer the group that is closer to what they are used to which is anime.
Hololive is closer to anime. They put on fake anime voices and purposely dumb themselves down to act like like a anime character. It's similar to how seiyuu are 2.5d and whatnot.

If Niji wants to beat Holo they would basically have to beat them at their own game of acting like anime characters.

Is also an option. A big Yab seems pretty unlikely and even if it happened it would probably be localized to a single or a few talents.
The biggest potential problem I see within Holo only exists in HoloJP and that there's essentially two fanbases who want different things. There's entertainment Chuubas and GFE chuubas. It's pretty possible for Niji to absorb Holo's jp entertainment enjoyers the same way Holo been siphoning Niji's GFE enjoyers for the last two years.
For this to happen though it would mean Holo needs to do things that filter entertainment enjoyers while pandering to the GFE Audience. A male collab ban for example is definitely a entertainment debuff and a GFE buff. I can't really think of anything else but there definitely is some friction between the two Holo fanbases and we can even see it on this board.

The VTuber industry has barely gotten off the ground for anything happening right now to be the "peak of VTubing." Furthermore, the VTuber concept has a much higher ceiling for it to be stuck as just "anime avatar streamer." There are other areas in the entertainment industry in which VTubers are slowly expanding. We're slowly getting things happening in the music industry with VSingers. It's only a matter of time before we get VActors entering the TV and movie industry. And then there's VSeiyuus with the anime industry. The possibilities are endless; every industry is potentially a new breeding ground for virtual beings to replace where real humans used to be.

Fire 2/3 of their talents. I know it sounds crazy, but a reason I check every Hololive debute despite mostly watching indies, is that their scouting is good and they only give the "approved" stamp to a few select. Compared to checking myself countless indies to find a gem, Clover does it for me and most of the time they indeed find very interesting profiles.
Meanwhile Niji literally give their branding to anyone left and right and see what sticks, it's barely an upgrade over looking for no views talents myself. There are too may Niji, only a few are good, the rest jus pollute the branding and makes it worthless.

Five years from now, Pekora and Kuzuha will both be graduated and both companies will have rosters that is unrecognizable from today's. Judging by how Niji keeps having successful debuts this year to replace their graduated talents, and Cover has done jack shit to replicate their success with Coco, it's only a matter of time.
AnyColor's stronger fundamental also allows them to ride out bad gens like Selejo

I think they're taking the right approach. Basically hire whoever they can for the first wave, show everyone that even with the Niji cut you can make a lot more cash working for them than being an indie. Eventually you can start getting the middling talents that are somewhat successful and looking to move up by have been shot down by Holo EN 2-3 times already. If you can prove top Niji ENs can get 3-4k average people one the Bao/Haruka/Kana (not specifically them, just that level of streamer) people will become interested. Keep snowballing this to get better and better people much more rapidly than Hololive releases gens. Flood the youtube vtuber ecosystem, support whoever does good, let everyone else fend for themselves. Do this long enough and you'll find a real hit or two. Maybe not Gura level but as popular as Kiara or IRyS is doable.
