What's your point? Menhera girls find reason to wake up in the morning, act cute for thousands of people, don't sleep normally, deal with drama/irl bullshit, deal with management, learning songs, making songs, finding creative things to do. Oh btw you wanna learn a language that's polar opposite of your own? (Not saying they have the hardest job in the world but come on dude)

Wow why didn't they learn it in a year? It's so easy!

You need a purpose in order to be able to learn. For me, it was Eroge. I was so fed up with translation companies taking literal years to come out with games for me to pirate that I learned Japanese in 1.5 years so I could just pirate the JP versions instead.

Those studies don't really take into account that japanese has way way more resources to help you learn and media to consume than any other language that isn't english, you could legitimately learn enough vocabulary to have a conversation just watching anime with j subs and a yomi extension in a year

I actually piggybacked off it as part of my repertoire (my main skillset is in digital design) to get a job as an editor at a publishing company, wherein we frequently deal with manga print releases. It turns out having an editor who can peek at raw files to doublecheck that the translator did his job is a useful skill to have.

And for the holos 1 year would be enough to have normal conversations, not like they talk about difficult topics most of the tine

Its hard to say this. Sora still seems to do her reps. Marine is actually improving from volcano vocabulary. Nenechi and Luna are always going to shock people with random English they pick up. Towa is probably trying to learn English since she failed learning Korean for her apex friends. Fubuki, Subaru and Korone are westaboos so they are still doing their reps. I agree that EN gave up their JP reps though. No improvement on Ame, Gura and Calli whatsoever.

I have been a weeb more than half of my life, english isn't even my first language but god it frustrates me not knowing japanese since is like half of the shit I consume like anime or vtubers.

It seems like this massive wall in front of me, with learning english at least I could read what it said, Japanese is like trying to remember fucking runes.
I don't know where to even begin with it, I could watch a step by step thing but even that doesn't get stuck with me. For those who knows it, besides the dedication to do it, what is really the best way to learn it?

>> No.7737263

Roboco has also gotten much better with her English.

The sample size for ENs giving up on Nihongo is kind of small though, to draw many conclusions. Ina, IRyS, Kiara, and Mori all can speak nip with some level of proficiency, as can most all of the IDs. I think that leaves only Moona, Gura and Ame as the ENs with little or no proficiency.

Anon are you me, Japanese is my third now. Just go for it with the mindset "i did it so i can do it again". I go for the memorizing kanjis approach, as in learn all the 常用漢字 first (around 2000 i think), learn them by the N, from 5 to 1, with writing down vocabs that consists of said kanji, double down with writing and reading, less averting your eyes from kanjis and actively look them up and write them down as much as possible. I mean wtf, just do what you did with English, plus the kanji mining part.
[spolier]seems like you really want to learn so i'll tach you another trick of mine, very retarded and tacky even, is to write the kanjis on your own body (preferably arms), with or without furigana

The way of me learning english was due to just consuming a lot of english content, like mostly self taught, all of that took me maybe 7 years.
I have consumed jap content for way longer than that and like I said, to me is just staring at random lines. Everytime I tried to learn like a few letters, it was so complicated to remember anything. All you said barely made any sense to me but I'll keep it saved just in case one day does.
I am just scared to even try to pick up again even when I genuinely want to learn it. I am someone that gives up kinda easily too, so it genuinely seems an impossible task but I hope one day I do. I love weebie stuff and the jap culture in general, one day I want to visit japan without a language problem.

How did you learn your own native language? By hearing others using it and slowly making sense of it all.
Practically all non-native english speakers I know are self-taught. You need only be actively trying to learn.

so as long as something is not "required", it is immediately ceased becoming a desirable skill / trait? I'm not asking them to go the whole N0, 50K kanjis road, just sufficing conversational level for potential collabs is all.
