All it takes for a game to be good is a gameplay loop that isn't dull. Take Rocket League for example, it's been popular for almost a decade despite zero changes to a game that's just bumping a ball around with RC cars, all because its core gameplay loop is something you can do semi-mindlessly and has enough variety to keep you coming back. Street Fighter is exactly the same, short matches that are just engaging enough to keep your mind busy without tiring you out the way something shit like RTS does.
