Not even Gura can kill Gura. If Gura debuted today with, the same in every way possible, but even better, she still wouldn't be able to kill Gura. It's possible that if everything went just right, then she might go completely unnoticed.
That's also why Gura can go on so many breaks and barely make any effort at all. Not because she's just that good, no, she's objectively pretty shit. The reason is that it has gone way beyond her and is out of her hands now. Nothing short of graduating will slow down the train, but even then Gura will continue to persist without Gura being an actual vtuber anymore.
The reason is that it has become a social phenomenon which has nothing to do with the design, the voice, the zatsu, the acting, the gameplay, or anything else you can grasp at to try and make sense of it. It was just the right place, right time, right open niche in the market, right circumstances, right amount of FOMO, right amount of losers looking to belong.

There are some vtubers that have more subs and attract lots of viewers, but most of them started their channels before they become vtubers. It's specifically about vtubers as they're presented right now. You can't really predict the situation in the future, and it's definitely possible that someone will come along and redefine what it means to be a successful vtuber. But it would be a different kind of success, not just a repeat of the past and then just better and more popular. At the same time it probably wouldn't detract from Gura or diminish her current fandom in any way.
