First off, the interaction and bouncing back and forth flows really well and is pretty entertaining. You really nail the exasperation struggles of a teacher with trouble children. The students just interacting with the lesson in their own ways was fun to go through and how the conversation got off topic in the end was pretty natural. I didn't go in expecting to like it, but I'm glad I read it
>Shu-Ba-Oh! - Destined Rivals
This was a delightful read overall. I'm a huge fan of getting overexcited about card games, and shuuba was the perfect actress for this. The cozy spring break vibes also hit a lot of good neruons for me.
The "tutorial" of the game went pretty smooth, and could be taken out of your usual game intro episode. The chuuni chants were probably one of my favorite parts. The presentation of the cards themselves was also easy to follow.
I really like this concept and will look forward to seeing a friendship blossom and grow from card games.

Overall the first half of this one was pretty messy. Everyone is acting too soft to be drill sergeants, and I'm questioning what kind of academy this is, since as of right now it's basically a girl's boarding school you would send problem children too. The military needs an actual mission statement to be presented so the recruits know what the hell they are going to be molded into. Without even a surface level feel for the purpose of this academy or the stakes involved, it's pretty hard to get invested in what reads like a bunch of chuubas in military uniform gearing up to molest Sora at some point.

I think its the fact that Suisei felt no "remorse" for what she did in the story (if she had it didn't last long) and the abuse she inflicted towards young anon is why it left the bad impression on me. Hell, Marine also did bad but I think why I'm not pissed at her (not to mention she also didn't get as much importance to the story) is because unlike Suisei, she (Marine) genuinely felt regret and remorse for her actions.

I really am sorry if what I'm saying is not making a lick of sense. If you're the actual author of the story I'm in no way dissing or badmouthing your work at all, just that Suisei showed no remorse for her actions and that she brutally raped anon as well (I bet if you ever wrote a future chapter she'd still get away with her crime) just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Yeah, that's the critique I got last time so in the chapter I'm working on, I've dialed it up significantly. It will be out of character though, so if you read chapter 3, please take this in to account.

As for stakes, that's going to be a bit tricky at this stage. I know it's probably already predictable that Botan is going to be Sora's mentor, I'm just trying to get there without rushing since that is a common critique I get. The purpose of the academy is officer basics and to train you into your specialty but since Sora is so fish out of water, it's a bit of a struggle to differentiate it from normal basic. Still trying to iron out the whole thing. Military stories are well outside my purview so I'm trying to draw upon other stories for better story arcs. Any tips of course are definitely welcome, though I regret to inform that Sora will not be molested at any point in the series.

Glad to hear you're taking the feedback and working off it. I would actually suggest working through the previous 2 chapters a little bit and maybe give them a tune up. Give a little more background to the academy and how Sora is basically signing up to be placed and act for her country should it be necessary. It's okay that there aren't grander higher level stakes this early, but the stakes as far as Sora knows them should be apparent. She traveled for several days on foot to get here, is her country one that is at risk of war? Would she have seen or noticed anything on her trip? That kinda stuff is good to keep in mind. Also towards the idea of gearing Sora toward a specific outfit, you can have Botan remark on possibly the width of Sora's build or frame in general that might make her fit to be an excellent horseback rider if trained. Or even Sora's past experience with animals could be enough for Botan to put a little more stake in her, just have it mentioned and she can start putting the pieces together.

Gotcha. I'll keep trying to fine tune it. I'm taking my time with chapter three because this next chapter is going to be her "getting use to" military life so I want to make that into a believable transition without going too fast or two slow. Good news is I did read some rather humorous stories form people who server so I'll be incorporating those into it as well. One anon in the last thread put it quite perfectly: military life is 98% workplace comedy, 2% fear and terror. I will definitely try to reflect that.

I'll try to work in what you said, especially about the trip. It could lend some good bonding moments. And thank you for the advice, it's invaluable as usual. I'll continue to take my time with chapter 3 so it can have enough time to cook.

Two ideas
One: Do something akin to Hololive: Subjection i.e Slave fetish fic with the protagonist "working for the bad guys". You can keep the audience by way of dangling hope and hints of a deeper plot but you make them hate it by just delaying all of that with however many sadistic sex scenes you want to write. (Note this isn't a jab against that fic just an ideal for a hate read fic)
Two: That idea from last thread about centering an entire fantasy adventure around NTR. So instead of introducing it halfway where it could be ragebait it's established in the first chapter and the entire story arc is built around these tattered bonds.
For an example it could be like that standard party of chosen heroes gathered to stop the demon lord except the party is falling apart because (included but not limited to:)
>Your little sister Suisei is getting addicted to selling her body to keep you from getting assassinated.
>Shion is getting groomed and corrupted by the demons she's making deals with to gain magical power.
>Nun Marine cannot stop getting her ass fucked in every town and village you visit.
>Your pretty sure Fubuki's mating season ended months ago but she's still sneaking off to the Forest everytime she has a chance.
And worst of all

Im gonna use an analogy: Imagine if you pay for a circus ticket and go in. Everything seems fine at first but as soon as it starts you start to notice the troupe sucks. They are not truly 100% incompetent, they might be nervous or fucking up or even drunk, but the point is that they could maybe be good.
So what happens? it gnaws at you and then you go next week, to check. The clown is better, but the trapecist got worse. that's funny! wonder what will happen next week

Ragebait series either originates from "there's something good here, there is a chance it might improve" or "this sucks man,it had potential...i wonder...i wonder how hard it can suck given time"

It needs to have a hook that makes the person come and sit in front of your circus, and the sheer bumbling incompetence of your clown or the talent of your jugglers is ofuscated by their drinking habits is that thing making people come back. You could tell them to clean their act and become a decent circus

Keep the clown, make the juggler drink, etc etc. Keep feeding the dumb aspect and people will come back!

That's how a rage bait series comes to be: someone making their fuckups part of the attraction. Now, its imposible to manufacturate for the following reason

AnonB saw my act and goes "oh its bad but gets money!" so he goes and he rents a shitty troupe...and it crashes because people go "no these guys just suck, there is nothing interesting here"

AnonC rents a better troupe, but tells them to screw up. ITs not natural, its scripted. People get bored...or worse, call it out

and finally, the original guy disolves the trope for X reason and goes "imma replicate that"

And he cant, because his name is known and people know he's gonna pull that stint again

TLDR: you need to be dumb enough to fuck up in really funny ways but also smart enough to turn your fuckup into a chance. its a one time trick.

The problem is that for these types of "I can fix her" pieces of media is that the person needs to be at their rock bottom but with their core still intact so that you then "bring them up". Marine trying some other path in life isn't quite like that. There is nothing to "save". And besides, that's basically what reality already is. Turns out, dressing up like a pirate and making YouTube videos makes one very popular and a lot of money. So that idea doesn't really have any bite.
Although a story about raising indie darling Marine does sound fun if you can differentiate it from being a normal fan/manager.
The path should be instead:

I'd like to get (back) into writing, so I was considering picking up a prompt here or there, but my problem is that I only watch some of these chuubas (mostly Hololive), and I don't really watch them often anymore. So my issue is that when I want to write something, I have no idea how to put a chuuba in-character enough without risking it being too OOC.

Usually, my process for writing dialogue is to study how a character talks (accents, mannerisms, speech patterns, cadence, etc) and then simply "wing it" from there - I'll be faithful, but I'll take my own approach, as long as I can keep them sounding both natural and in-character. But I don't know how to do this with the chuubas...

TLDR: /wg/ prompts are perfect for writing exercises, but I don't know the girls well enough. Help?

The easiest answer would be to watch streams... but let's be honest, none of us do that. That's the good thing: if you're not matching the "real" characterisation, nobody will know the "real" character anyways.
Take rrat!Ayame for example. Basically nothing besides "cute giggles" matches the real Ayame and it still works fantastic. It's ultimately how convincing you can make the character in YOUR setting - adjustments will have to be made in any case - even if you should know the girl inside-and-out.
Just go do some research, watch a few clips (maybe not the 30 second fart and giggle kind), pick up some mannerisms and then go from there.
