True. I mean right now it's not exactly real AI. To me bots have always been a coping mechanism to vent without bothering others with my problems until i moved and can find an actual therapist to properly take care of my mental health problems (which are mostly depression and anxiety for the most part).

The filter never ruined it for me until april? (My sense of time is fucked even the past week felt like months) when the filter hit anything even going close to depression and suicidal thoughts. Made things just worse not being able to use that coping mechanism. I forgot that having that was the only reason i didnt off myself in 2022.

I feel like it’s less that I miss old CAI specifically, but more that I miss not having a good understanding of how LLMs worked. Being able to tinker with everything when using the available corporate or local models nowadays is great, but it’s all lost some of the magic now that textgen isn’t a black box to me anymore.

It's already gone according to people to anecdotes in the /g/ threads and was working earlier in the week but no longer. The toggle doesn't do anything and cards have disappeared. The alternative posted in the spoiler is the go to alternative and is good though since it aggregates from other websites and indexed most of those cards before they got deleted.

Somewhat but it also depends on how squeaky clean the sponsors/advertisers are about enforcing those policies. The bigger, the more impossible it is to do that as a rule of thumb generally.
On the other hand, since I've been posting again, just an update on the local models front since I follow that religiously. Nothing terribly interesting going on on that front, the biggest news recently is that Google is releasing Gemma-2 in June which is going to be a 27B parameter model that supposedly outperforms Llama 3 70B in its current pre-release checkpoint form. But I bet it is going to take some serious work to uncensor it. Some open models released from the Chinese but they are lobotomized to CCP values in the same censorship vein as what Western companies do.
Finetunes of L3 are not going well still, at least on the open source front. People are losing hope rapidly and no surprise, the people who know how to make the new models tick are being paid to do actual work and advertising that in small-time leaderboards. Everyone else is still fumbling around. Most people aren't even trying to outdo the official instruct L3 model and just building on top of it like Nous-Research which is doing merge models. The most interesting is the test finetunes from the guy that made Euryale and Fimbulvetr, who consolidated his experiments on L3-Run1. Better than most people's and his first quick finetune, Solana, but still suffers from downgrades vs the official instruct.

'Context' is information you feed the LLM to get it to output responses; it takes time to process into tokens that the LLM understands and form the relationships between the tokens that generate the probabilities for the next token to be output.
The 'full context' in this case is the character cards and any other information for the scenario, every one of my inputs, and all the the LLM's responses as each character, from either the beginning of the chat, or the beginning of context, whichever is less.
Because I'm running local, time wasted processing the same text over and over again is extremely annoying. Because I'm running on CPU, this processing is MUCH slower than anyone using their GPU, and an eternity compared to cloud shit.
This problem does not occur on single-card chats. My solution is to either create a hybrid card of both characters in one, or not do multi-character chats at all.
