33 going on 34. Found 4chan in 2005, started coming here frequently in 2007. The whole Virginia Tech shooting was the catalyst because I found the absurdity of someone making a website called vtechdies.com the same day and using it to get responses from people who had loved ones who died weirdly funny. Lost my edge over the years, don't need that /b/ shit and I've always been an anime guy so I've floated in and out of /a/ for a long time.
Kiara brought out my inner saviourfag back in early 2021. Watching Orcschizo go wild around here and then watching her continue to truck on was a little inspiring and I liked her determination. On top of that she had an interesting history and her old weeb spoke to me. Swapped to FuwaMoco fully in October 2023 after basically never missing a Kiara stream (consumed via VoD or live) because they still had the weeb strong in them and were still watching anime. Kiara was /cgl/ with a little /a/ while FuwaMoco were /jp/ with a little /a/, which I connected more with. Sad they put their VN stuff on hold, but I can hope it will come back soon.

No specific oshi, I watch VODs of some liggers like Grimmi, Juniper, and Jets, and other than that I'm subscribed to over 1000 clip channels and watch all of their videos every day(it comes down to about 8-12 hours a day at 3x speed, so about 24-36 hours realtime) so I'm mostly up to date on all the corpos and most larger indies. It can get stressful keeping up with it all but I've managed somehow.

Not great. I was on the other side of the planet working on my masters for awhile, but for various reasons had to return home (though I plan to go back and finish . . . eventually). Now I've been here living in my parents basement again for almost year now, no job, no friends or social life, no disposable income, seeing a psychiatrist trying to figure out what the hell's going on in my head that prevents me me from actually doing anything (whether work or for fun), with a creeping anxious dread in the back of my mind over the fact I'm closer to 40 than 30 and still have no career started and no relationship experience (not even a single date, ever) driving the hope of ever having a family further and further away.
Whew, sorry for the rant there.

Kamioshi is Biboo; instant oshi after her debut, and solidified her position above that shortly thereafter. I'd also consider Ina, Gura, and Bae as oshi, maybe Kaela to a lesser extent. Though in many ways (especially before Advent debuted) I'd consider myself more a hako-oshi for all of Hololive.

I'm American, studying in Europe. And before you mention cost careful planning had my total living expenses + tuition (University is top 30 in the world for my field, top 100~150 in the world overall) at about 5~6k euro a year.

Is that so bizarre? I love the field, and if anything would probably want to teach it at a collegiate or university level. Got quite a bit of experience teaching material at primary/secondary/undergrad level, but not in a career-type way and nothing in an actual classroom. I'd even consider going for a PhD just because I love the material, but I hate doing actual research. Love reading cutting-edge stuff, going in-depth and really understanding it, maybe even breaking it down to be easier to understand for others. Just not doing it myself, which is kinda important to be a professor. So I don't really know where I'm heading.
In the meantime though I've got serious personal issues to work out before making plans that far ahead. Which, given my age, just makes me more anxious.

37, soon to be 38. A weeb who got interested during the Kizuna AI and Kaguya Luna's run, reentered the scene when Myth came around. Currently mostly watching Phase, but I grow more and more apprehensive. Male collabs are my only true filter and for whatever reason every chuuba I get interested in tends to end up collabing with males. Was membered to Pippa for two years, which is the longest consecutive time I've ever paid attention to a woman. I dropped Gura at the 1 year and 11 months mark because it became perfectly clear she wasn't going to stream properly ever again. She was my true kamioshi and nobody ever came close to her in terms of quality and skill.

Personally I'm doing fine. I'm not lonely or looking for GFE as such, I just like CGDCT with a dash of energy. I mostly watch Panko, Uruka, Lumi and Remilia (all Phase) and got into Coni from Idol. I'm not very optimistic about vtubing as a whole anymore since it all seems to tend towards maleshit. Pippa destroyed any sort of notion I had that a chuuba can change or strive for the best. I genuinely thought she was capable of rising to true greatness and status Gura achieved. Following my disappointment I grew much more cynical and pessimistic, and thus kinda detached.

As stated above my IRL life is in order, I have a job I can tolerate, I own my place outright, no debts, no mortgages, no credit and I can't really complain about anything. As I grow older and older I can feel myself abandoning many things, but acquiring some new ones. I don't think or feel that the addition of a woman into my life could offer any sort of benefit nor am I actively pursuing anyone. As stated above loneliness or depression or sadness simply aren't a thing for me. I actually think those feelings just die out after you hit 30 and I see younger guys who complain about inceldom or no gf as just being immature. It really is something you grow out of.

I don't have an oshi. I've watched a lot of streamers and none of them make me go, "I'd die for this woman." I don't watch hololive anymore besides the occasional Fauna vod for background noise. I watch some of the phase girls, but I've mostly been sticking to /lig/ women lately. Strangely enough Bao is really engaging. She's like watching a Trainwreck in slow motion. She's stupid, loud, crass, overly vulgar, plays shit games, and fleshtubes now, but I don't know man there's just something about her.

Found hololive through clips like most people a little pre-lockdown era. Stuck around long enough for myth to debut before jumping ship. Took twoish years off from watching anything besides the occasional clip before I realized there was more to the sphere than hololive.

Also as far as 4chan is concerned I've been here since late 2005. But I also think that doesn't matter for me or for anyone else anymore since that culture has died out entirely. The whole of anime culture as such has next to nothing in feel and content like it was back then, nor does the Internet, nor does anything for that matter.

But you fuckers have it a bit better, I think. I'm from fucking Croatia, nobody here even knows anime exists or is a thing. They didn't when I was a teen, they sure as fuck won't now. You at least have the ability to socialize with people who share your interests, at least theoretically. I had a vtuber I felt like that about. To feel such an intense passion for someone might give you the impression that you've formed a really strong bond, but is it sustainable? Not from what I've seen.
