I know Idol is big compared to others in their tier, but they're not what really in what /vt/ considers the "big corpo" club, I think that's still holo/niji/vshojo, with phase recently edging themselves a place in there. Doki already collabed with vshojo, too. I don't think she's considered "radioactive" by anyone besides niji and maaaybe holo, though even then holo RMs seem free to interact.

I don't attend conventions, so I'm not familiar with the how they fully work but the Kirsche blacklist seems odd to me. Regardless of whether or not you like her, wouldn't you want as many VTubers as possible at your VTuber convention? With how popular VTubers are getting, was it really so difficult to find volunteers for this event that a handful of them can have influence over who can attend?

Offkai, like some other conventions, is very reliant on volunteers, and they are drawing these volunteers from the liberal gay-Mecca orgy that is San Francisco. The loss of a good chunk of those volunteers sadly has more of an impact than the loss of one ligger.

...and for all Kirsche's claims that it's a matter of "fictional head cannon", she does, pretty much on the daily, campaign against anti-discrimination efforts such as ESG, DEI, Bridges, and the like, all of which are things most San Franciscans, particularly those eager to do volunteer work for an anime convention, would consider crucial to fighting bigotry, especially when faced with a supreme court they view as hell bent on spreading it. That's in addition to her advocating for Trump, who many of them believe will bring about the end of the nation, in addition to being a traitor and serial rapist at large. They might not consider her a Nazi, but many would consider her Nazi adjacent, and it isn't a matter of ignorance of her actual positions and content. It's just what she does.

...and of course many more, who may not even necessarily disagree with her political positions, are appalled by the very the idea of vtubers getting involved in politics at all.

Not that it isn't absolutely despicable to ban someone from an anime convention based on their political beliefs, and I kinda hope a lot of major Vtubers will walk out because of this, but in reality, this is simply the consequences of her actions come home to roost.

Most likely and most consequential, would be Pippa, as she is very, very close friends with Kirsche. I doubt it will happen, as she'd also be screwing over her friend Tenma in the process, and who knows what Sakana's reaction to her requesting to leave would be, after investing so much in her 3D event there. If it did happen, it'd be pretty big - and I do not look forward to the political shitstorm that would result on /vt/ (even if I'd be secretively proud of Pippa.)

There's a few other right wing'ish indie or quasi-indie vtubers attending that *might* walk, and a few consumer level attendees with community clout, and their associated groups, have already walked, but unless a whole corporation threatens to withdraw, I doubt it will change the organizers minds. It will also, sadly, have a much larger impact on the community than it will on the convention.

Sometimes the corporations are so dangerous for the talents I cannot support them as long as they are stuck inside, so I do everything I can to support their PL's and get them out. I'm not a unicorn but I'm just parasocial enough to not want to see the chuubas I watch or their careers come to harm. I've also taken to avoid getting involved with new vtubers because of associations like that - I dunno what might happen to them, and I don't want to be in a position where my heart is going to be broken into a homicidal rage if something terrible happens to them. (For instance, I was just getting into Meeta when V&U pulled their $450,000 bullshit, causing me to withdraw.) Suffice to say, due to recent events, I find myself getting attached to a lot more indies. I'm sure, much as with the AR Live tickets, there is a disclaimer somewhere saying they will not issue refunds simply because a talent was removed. Talents could also cancel for reasons beyond their control. Even if someone could take them to court, in the end it'd be small claims, short of a class action.

She aired DM's in which she had a very lengthy discussion with the director, who said she was banned from the panel because the volunteers don't like her. Given her usual content, and the fact we're talking about volunteers from San Francisco, that is not particularly surprising. It's bullshit, unethical, amoral, and in direct violation of the core principles of American society, but not surprising. (Also not an issue of "fictional head cannon" as she puts it - girl spends every other day campaigning against anti-discrimination efforts like DEI, so of course they don't like her.) That's one of the more interesting things to come out of this, apparently, Kirsche found out during her interrogation of the director, entirely by accident, that they had attempt to ban Pippa before.

Though as someone else pointed out, Pippa doesn't make politics her primary content, and while she's a Trump loving Republican, she's more of a "live and let live" libertarian in general, not ascribing to some of the more bigoted positions typically associated with her party. (Which I think is why she gets the "grifter" label by various right wingers /here/.)

Ooh, you simply haven't watched many of her streams then. Her primary thing, particularly as of late, is to rant about DEI, ESG, Bridges, and other such anti-discrimination efforts that your average San Francisco anime convention volunteer would whole heartedly support (and indeed would think critical as the last bastion, when set against a supreme court they feel is hell bent on spreading bigotry). It would also kind of have to be the case for the volunteers to have the opportunity to complain.
